I would not mod this car if it is not running right, that is just plain retarded. Get it running right and drive if for several 1000 miles then think it throught. Also if you mod it you better have 2-3k at least in the bank in case it blows up if not you should not mod your car.

I have 32k miles right now and if the factory doesnt solve the problems I have till the warranty is out, I'll most likely sell the car. It's been nothing but trouble since I bought the car brand new which doesnt make sense. I maintenance the car always ahead of the scheduled interval and use nothing but the best. The old Honda prelude I had never had a problem with it after like 160k miles and I drove the crap out of it. The evolution quality control is very poor if you ask me. Every single person I know who owns one has tons of problems with them.

We'll see what mitsu can do this next week....

I just took my car in to get fixed for the same engine code. The problem was the input shaft from the transmission to the engine. Mitsu issued a TSB to fix this problem and it was free of charge, its powertrain warranty too, so that 60k miles. Apparantly the old shaft wasnt designed right and was causing vibrations and whatnot to trip the error code.

I would definitely look into the input shaft problem.

Also, if you need to get your clutch changed, do this at the same time to save on labor charge. I got my clutch put in with no labor charge because they already had to jack the transmission out.

what code are you talking about? do you have a copy of the tsb by chance? my car has that damn miss, and occasional stumble trying to die and if I can get it fixed before the powertrain warranty goes out(only 1000miles left b4 60k) Id love to.

Is this really the problem?...with all these damn P0300 or P0304 codes?? Cause my 03' triggered the P0300 code after a few months of owning it, and has shut off and came back on occassionally. I haven't noticed any power loss from the car, however when it initially happens in a 5th cruise, it stutters for a second or so.

There is a TSB issued for the input shaft, I cant tell you which one it is right now but if you check with a Mitsu dealer, they should tell you.

I've had it changed about 2k miles ago with no problems so far, and the car runs smoother at idle and at cruising speeds. This was covered by the 5yr powertrain warranty too, since it was a tranmission part.

good luck

hmmm, you are thinking about moding and you have problems with the car? Here is my advice. Dont add any parts untill your problems are fixed then add one part at a time.

100% right

Fix it then think slowly about adding every part.

I hate to keep bugging you but I just checked with my local dealer and they didnt find anything about an input shaft, and I couldnt find any through work(i work at an independent shop) If you have your receipt and can find the tsb number, then that would be much appreciated
