What will Void my warranty?
I bought my 03 OZ back in June with 3 Miles on it. I've been very limited to my upgrades because everthing I wanted to do , the service Dept. Manager said will void my warranty. (Intake, Coilovers...etc.). Where can I find out the truth of this matter?
I bought my car @ Brandon
(FL.) Has anyone else purchased one there and done any mods.?
Please take a look around and next time run a search.

I havent quite purchased my EVO yet because my settlement check has not made it to my house, but heres the deal. I have been researching This car now for quite some time after my accident back in May of this year. I had several questions as to if I could Install aftermarket parts and accessories on my car when I get it. I was told by my room mate that my warranty would be void if I done motor mods and other internal mods. Now if its something cosmetic, It cant be void cause its only exterior work.(obviously) I want to ask the dealer about something but Im not sure how I should ask them for the fear they may freak out on the idea of suiciding my back doors. I mentioned to my bf last nite, he told me that I would lose my warranty since I would actually be cutting into the b-pillar of my car. (In all, my bf dont know diddly about suiciding.) SO how do I go about discussing this with the dealer? Any suggestions?
Every car dealer guy that I have ever talked to has always wanted to sell me on a new car even when I wasn't there for one, so it has been my experience that they are a very bad source for information. Car dealers can be manipulated with the right attitude and approach, but for the most part they are out to be manipulative themselves and to sell you on a car and make money.
If I were you and I wanted to start a conversation about moding my car I would start off by trying to come off as if I was interested in buying a car, and completly stupid about cars in general. Just ask all of the purdent questions about the warrenty basics, paint, tranny, bumber to bumper... do the whole kick the tire and walk around the car thing... and then after you have talked to him or her for awhile slip in a question like, "Have you ever seen the new Mazda with the doors that open the wrong way?" and then ask, "Wouldn't it be cool if I could do that to this car?"
My point is, if you make it seem like your stupid the car dealer will think he has you. He will let his gaurd down and give you more information. In a way its like social enginering to some extent, you have to be manipulative when dealing with them.
But hey if you actually find a cool car salesman they are sometimes more than willing to share information if you just ask.
But with regard to the suiciding the doors I think that you might be voiding the warrenty on the basis of electricial as well. You have to reroute or crimp the wires that power the locks and the windows. Not to mention the fact that you would be messing with the structural integrity of the car... just playing devils advocate.
I apologize if anything is misspelled no time for spell check...

Well I grew some ***** and went back to the dealer on Friday with a list of questions about some mods. Honestly, I dont know what kind of dumbheads u been working with but they gave me all kinds of information. And I didnt play the dumb lil girl most people say to play. Im straight up with them so they have been straight up with me. I talked to the Mechanic there and he told me that if i do anything to my motor or even exhaust for that matter, i will lose my warranty. but as far as suiciding the back doors he said that will not void my warranty at all....I mentioned a carbon fiber hood...its all good they have no problem with it. same with changing out the head and tail lights they are pretty cool people to work with but the finance lady is a *****. I talked to her about buying the car. Well Im getting a fairly nice chunk of change from a settlement here this week. I told her i was gonna come in with 20k to put down on the car. then there was the question about a job. Im not working becasue no one will hire someone who is not 100% to work. and i told her that but im self employed. that didnt suit her. She told me that i may need to get a cosigner. Thats BS. So im debating. Should I go in there with the 20k and try it then if she wont do it , tell her that im going up north with my money orshould i buy the car outright? The car that i want is 33 but i can get the one thats only 30 and pay for it outright and let it be known. but i dont know yet. well see when i get my money this week.
Why would you want to put suicide doors on a evo? Your just going to ruin the car. Please keep the rice away
When you purchase a car on credit, few things you will need is, CREDIT, and proof of income. If you dont have these two, you will need a cosigner. It wont matter how much you put down.

I think there would more than likely be a problem getting credit through the dealer, but a bank or credit union would probably be more than willing to give you a loan based on the amount that is being put down. I think they would take into consideration that there is no way they are going to lose, if you default....they would be able to get rid of the car for 10k with no problems. If you have the ability to get 30k in cash, I could not see a dealer turning down that amount for a 33k car, they can crunch numbers when there is cash in hand.
