Based on strong recommendations I ordered a twin carbon clutch (exedy). An expensive item at over $ 2.5 M. They said it gives better performance and lasts longer than the standard set-up. Are they right? if so why?

Search a little. You'll find that EvoM offers a vast archive of information on pretty much any available bit for the EVO. You'll just need to sort through all of the "X or Y part is better because "I" own it therefore it must be better" dreck.

Here's a question for you, tough guy.... why are you hanging out in the newbie section of an internet forum if you're such a champion? Shouldn't you be out running the circuits and besting your times?

Edit- hate to dig this thread up from the 1st of the month, but its guys like you who truly encourage people to get into the culture of evos. And believe me, its just as bad on the domestic side.

Up to now these are my modifications on my ix:

1) Amuse 3 inch titanium cat back;
2) Blitz boost controller;
3) HKS air induction with bov;
4) HKS stainless steel down pipe;
5) test pipe (no check engine!);
6) AMS Fuel rail;
7) Exedy twin carbon clutch

Also added:
8) Spraco Monza seats;
9) Defi guages (turbo boost, fuel pressure & oil temp.);
10) Turbo timer.

My car is louder, feels more responsive and is quicker than stock. this was obvious when the car easily out-accelerated a friend's stock ix.

- Can any one make a calculated guess on hp gains(1.2 bar)?
- Would I gain more with aftermaket upper & lower IC pipes?
- Beside opening the engine, changing the turbo, and ECU tuning what other bolt ons are available for hp gains?

how about ECU tuning first, all those mods and you havent even tuned the ECU...you should tune it ASAP and reap the rewards!

Motec's m800 plug & play in my list is the ecu. I'm in the process of tuning it.

Any advice on hks's 1000 cc injectors with mods mentioned earlier?

Decided to get more proffessional help and ship the car - might as well go further:

2.3 stroker kit with requirements (aat)
motec boost cont. solenoid + connect
external fuel pump + plumbing kit
perfomance inlet maniifold
throttle body 80 mm
modify oil system + large oil pan
cyl.head + block modification/honing
thermostat 71deg. C
tuning (motec) 2 maps (c16 + 95 pump)

Car is almost ready - "under the knife" for two weeks now.
It's costing me an arm & a leg; it better be worth it.

^A lot of parts that aren't really needed just bling, especially for a daily driver. That cusco cage isn't safe in a rollover. The stock clutch has held over 500whp for some evo drivers.

If you searched around you have had around ~350whp with simple ecu reflash and TBE exhaust. Also, contacting a pruven shop in the evo community and getting a motor + tuning package would have been cheaper and easier. I hope everything turns out as expected and wish you the best of luck.

I would have personally invested a chunk of the money into driving track time and good coilover setup.

Thanx - It is more expensive when you upgrade gradually as some parts become useless. Also, all the different & sometimes conflicting recommendations didnt help.

standard clutchs don't last long if you slip them frequently.

Hopefully I will finally get to properly use this car - what's wrong with the cusco cage?
