Lost at sea in an ix
Lost at sea in an ix
I bought a new five speed evo ix two weeks ago. For the last few days I've been exploring its capabilities; quite an impressive machine for the money
.
To let off steam, I race Formula BMW's in Bahrain and participate in many sprint & auto-cross challenges (Caterham) in the region. My ix needs spicing
.
So I bagan searching for options. At first , the massive veriety of aftermarket products for the Evo was exciting. It very quickly became confusing
. Experts gave me different and conflicting answers. the car will be used for occasional open track days, but mainly a daily driver. I'm also willing to spend a reasonable amount on upgrades to acheive the following results:
1) Added power (approx. + 150 hp's to the wheels) with less turbo lag;
2) Permamnent stronger brakes for part-time track use;
3) Improved suspesion, adjustable if available;
4) Hot weather engine protection;
5) weight reduction; not too extreme.
So, with local advice, I ordered the following:
1) Amuse 3 inch titanium exhaust (17 kg's lighter than standard);
2) Blitz boost controller;
3) HKS air induction with bov;
4) Upgraded fuel pump;
5) Spraco Monza seats.
Am I on the right track to a 996 GT3 beater? where do I go next?

for quicker spool, go with IC hard pipes, for more power: a reflash or some kind of tune, cams, I have the ttp meth injection kit, dont know if it would be right for you but it produces tons of power (still on stock turbo). talk to scott from ttp-engineering he;s in orlando and knows his ****.

....then you could go with some upgraded brake pads too for the track visits.
other than that your going to be very happy with this setup... still stock turbo but youll spool faster than stock with support mods, and you'll gain a bunch of HP.

thnx for the feedback.
I'm not so sure about the latest intake technique. How about you try adding a little K.Y. to the vent tubing for better slipstreaming.

For someone who claims to have raced before, I'm surprised to see your shoddy mod list. You should know that this is how you should mod for racing:
1. Tires & wheels
2. Suspension
3. Weight
4. Power
First off, you should run the car stock a few times, to see how your driving style interacts with the car. Figure out what you have a tendency to do, and what you need. (i.e. do you need to fix some understeer?)
So, to start modding, I'd figure out what are the best tires you can run, and in what size. That right there can set you back a lot of $.
After that, run the car some more. Changing tire pressures can make a WORLD of difference to your car's handling capabilities. Once you find the right pressure to run the tires at, figure out what you need. Still too much understeer? Add anything from a rear sway to full coilovers. At this point, you'll have to make all your own decisions, no two drivers are alike.
If, after the wheels, tires, and suspension, you find you want to be faster in turns, then delete whatever weight you can within your racing league limitations.
After you've maxxed out the weight you can remove, and you need to be faster coming out of turns and in straights, start adding more power.

What a crappy response. You don't know much about modding or racing, if you're going to just let some dude tell you what you need. How does 'he' know?

STFU.
Along with my first post, genius, you would see that no matter if it's David Buschur or God, 'he' doesn't drive like 'you'. He might not need the same mods as you, and he certainly can't tell you how to mod for your driving style.
Are you saying that the Buschur/Warrtalon kit is good for an autox dude? What if he wants to run stock class? Or are you talking out your ***? Thought so.
