What do you mean you're not trying to start nothing? Looks like a basic question to me. I say the Buschur because it's $80 and works. Why spend $250 or $400 for the same thing? Don't listen to UltimateCC.

Yea I forgot we are all supposed to follow the Warrtalon path of mods because he loves the 12s...why buy the buschur kit which is basically a filter when you could make your own for $25??? The reason you buy a kit like HKS RS or Injen is that it actually is proven to make 15whp more and I know you are going to say thats because the hoods opened but I don't believe all the hype on that...

BTW, you can also get the K&N filter with MAF adapter for $60. Save your $20 if you're just going for that. Also ebay (yeah yeah) has these for around $20 or $30, but I would suggest getting a filter from somewhere else and just use their adapter. Of course all of this is only at the point of when you actually need it. Like Ultimate said, you can also make your own adapter. To each their own.

On the older RS intakes, you will need a tune for it to work properly. This includes adding a correction factor to the MAF sensor readings to match the larger diameter intake pipe. So if you have an intake kit and tuned for it, then take it out to fit the stock box, you will need to re-tune your system. If you don't then your car will think there's more air going into the engine than there actually is and try to do stuff accordingly. Perhaps this is why they lost so much power?

No, you don't gain 15whp from the HKS RS and Injen. With a tune, you can gain that much, but most of the power comes from the tune. And yes, that's still with the hood open. The HKS RS and Injen are just expensive namebrands that people love to show off. I personally think the HKS filter is the ugliest thing I've ever seen, though, so I don't see the appeal.

I like how quiet the stock intake is. I have done the intake thing, and now I'm over it. I like the stock intake so much, that when I convert to speed density, I'm going to make a MAF delete that allows me to keep the stock air box.

+1 I agree with Warr. Most mods hurt the car unless tuned for it!!!

An intake is the kind of mod you put on a naturally aspirated engine. Go to the Evo drag racing forum, look at all the high 11 second times and then look at their mod list. There's plenty of power in the stock intake/air box.

if you have turbo upgrade, get Injen. If you still have stock turbo, stock airbox with K&N drop in filter since the stock airbox doesn't have any restrictions at all.

WTF this is just crazy, I still don't get which one is better...

But I do agree with the few people that say stick to the stock box, If you don't need an aftermarket intake, then don't get one. Save the money for something else.

When it is time to replace the oem intake because of the mods that require it, like bigger turbo or alky kit, then this is when you decide the proper intake application for the corresponding mods.

If you do decide that you just want a intake for the hell of it, then decide on one that will work with future mods.

Allot of people on this forum, including myself, have bought parts that latter on they try to sell because they don't work with there next mod.

Allot of money can be saved with good decisions.

The stock airbox works very well and there are higher flowing (less restrictive) filters than the Mitsu filter that allow great flow. I was more interested in smoothing the flow after the MAF so I went with the Cusco. It is simular to the Ralliart hard pipe.Cusco at Z1 Ralliart at Z1
I really like the way it works and sounds, although it would be hard to give you a SOP on the intake as I also added upper/lower IC pipes and a WR at the same time.
