Utimately, its your decision, other people's opinions shouldn't matter at all.

FYI it is NOT hard to get sideways in a evo, even bone stock. I will say the RX-8 looks very good but there has never been a car more fun to drive than both Evo's that i have owned, and i drove a '01 Z06 for a while.

LOL. If you really wanted another car you would be past the denial of how slow and miserable those things really are. Clearly an Evo is not for you either though, you need a Honda.

I had a 350Z (rwd also), and traded for my IX. Yeah rwd can be fun, but really now....How often do you drift? Peeling out and doin burnouts have never been fun for me, because all I see and smell is $$$$$$ in the air. Z tires are expensive and can't be rotated. Rears are larger than fronts.
As far as looks and status go...The novelty and attention wore off, and I wanted something faster and more fun to drive. I would call the Evo a handsome car. It has a good mix of sport and a touch of class with its edgy lines. Interior is kinda blah, but I don't know about you..I usually don't look at the interior when I'm driving anyway. You don't just drive and Evo, you experience it.

BTW...I sold Mazdas last year, and the Rx-8 just didn't do it for me. The engine has very smooth power delivery (a plus), but just lacked torque. Nice shifting feel though. There is also too much body roll. It feels like a sporty sedan. The Evo 'Feels' more like a sports car.

Good luck

Evo's pretty bland but powerful in stock form. Too much grip (mostly a good thing), feels a bit heavy, first 3 gears are very low (in the IX), low redline even though it's going fast when it is stock. Sorry my 2 cents... Get a IX with a reflash I hear it's fun, powerful, practical and cheap. I can't wait to get mine... Ton's of torque too! A great handling, powerful turbo 4 door sports car, can't go wrong

The rx8 is a nice car dont get me wrong. The interior is very nice(In my opinion its nicer then the evo8 interior but not the evo 9's), the exterior is found by the general public to be nicer then the evo (but not in my eyes). The Rx8 has 50/50 weight wich is great and has wonderful response, but still is out handled by the evo. The rx8 is a great car for daily driving and a not so hardcore enthusiast. But for being a Rx8, its soooo slow! Even if u want to mod the rx8, i dont beleave them to be a fast car still. Protech here had a greddy turbo kit on thiers (it was the first production kit out for the rx8 **that i know of**) and dont know how many r out now but it was still a slow car. Just my 2 cents

i drove an rx8 2 weeks ago for the first time, and I was thoroughly disappointed. I drove it because my mom was looking to get a new car, and I suggested she drive one. The rx8 looks great on the inside, but i think it's fugly on the outside.

I seriously can't think of a single reason why I'd rather have an rx8... unless... does it have rain sensing wipers? because i miss those from my bmw.

aftermarket nav, or carputer for $600 would be do-able if nav is a big deal. I agree that before you get anything drive them both back to back and decide for yourself.
