2008 Lancer Ralliart
Mitsu maing a turbod rallyart thats awd and priced in the mid 20k price range is probably the smartest thing they could do.
Hell if they made it the same powerlevel as the current evo and sold the new X at a significantly higher power level, with the newer awd at a higher price point that would be just badass. Cant wait to see whats in store for Mitsu

It is expected that the base Lancer (ES/LS/Oz) will get the NA 4B11 whereas the RalliArt will be powered by a FI 4B11 (not as highly tuned as the version that will appear in the EVO X).
Your basing this on one source....not that I'm saying your wrong but, you can't believe evrything you read or see....this looks more like speculation to me...all the other threads on here point to the EVO X. I say this cause its turbocharged...and so far to date the lancer ralliart has not beeen turbocharged....if it was its going to make it less affordable and you'll probably be look more like 28-30 thousand to start for a lancer. Now your not even really lookin at a base model lancer anymore....might as well buy an EVO X...see what I'm saying? Honestly for your sake i hope its the lancer ralliart cause I want the EVO to keep its current body style. It look to much like a Acura TSX like previously stated. Good luck and keep on looking for some solid sources. I did not mean this in a harsh way I just think that these magizines need articles so they'll write anything to have a story!

Autoweek:
We’re told we can expect a “strong family resemblance” between the base car and the Evo X.

The new line up finally makes sense to be competitive.

For example, on another site it claims:
"Higher-line Ralliart models will have the 2.4-liter version of the same engine that generates around 175 horsepower. The top-of-the-line Evolution will get an upgraded version of its current 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, making roughly 300 hp. Although lesser models will use traditional transmissions, the Evo may offer a sequential manual with steering wheel paddle shifters similar to BMW's M cars.
All Lancers will ride on a new front-wheel-drive platform shared with DaimlerChrysler. Already in use underneath the Dodge Caliber and Jeep Compass, the new chassis has already proven to be a fairly stiff and well-mannered setup. Of course, when it comes to the Evolution there will be all-wheel drive..."

Basically saying that RA will stay with the 2.4L N/A.
No I'm not saying that it won't have a turboed option, or an awd drive option, but if it does, you can believe it won't be cheap, as in it will probably be around the cost of a current evo(being that's basically what an evo is over the other lancers. i.e. turbo and awd), so then what happens to the Evo X?...it's got to go up in price, making it either less desirable, or by having the costs close makes the ra turbo awd seem pretty pointless.
Yes subaru does this, but here in Edmonton, a 2.5RS will be under 30 k, a wrx is in the mid to high 30's, and an sti is over 40 k... And i can think of a lot more things to spend 40 k then an sti... not to mention insurance.

However, Automotive News (autonews.com and sister pulication Auto Week) are long-running industry publications.
The quote you posted is from Edmunds.com, which is part of the automotive press, and has a much shorter and far less proven track record.
I tend to trust the sources that have proven to be correct over the past 6 years... In terms of making correct, let's call them experienced projections, I will bet my money on Automotive News.
Either way, if I and Autonews are proven wrong, then these post can be rubbed in my face for posterity...

I remember reading somehwere that Mitsu did not have enough money to switch completely over to the World Engines right away. So maybe only the base LAncers will have the new W.E. and the RA will continue to carry the 4G69, just tweaked from 162 to 175. That would make sense as I don't think the Eclipse GS and Galant DE/ES which also currently use the 4G69 will swap to a new 4cyl in the middle of their life cycle either, but I dunno for sure.
