hmm...even MT is saying that the 2008 Lancer Ralliart will have AWD + Turbo...

2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart
Mitsubishi spreads the Evo magic
The Lancer has been about the only successful car line to come from Mitsubishi in recent years, due in no small part to the fanatical enthusiast following generated by the turbocharged, all-wheel-drive, rally-bred Evo models.
The all-new Evo X is one of the most anticipated new cars from Japan (along with the Nissan GT-R). Mitsubishi sources are confirming that regular iterations of the next Lancer will share a lot more Evo DNA in a bid to boost sales.
The turbocharged, all-wheel-drive Lancer Ralliart shown above is intended to be more mild-mannered than the Evo X and has been designed to compete with Subaru's WRX.
It's meant to be a halfway step between the regular Lancer sedans and the all-out performance version to give Mitsubishi a car line with broader appeal.

Anyone have any more news on the Ralliart? If it ends up having a turbo and being AWD, I think I'm going to get one. From what I read it will be about $10K less than the Evo X.
I'm guessing it will share the same engine. The differences I can see is a much more basic AWD system, smaller turbo and IC, not as cool seats, different gauge cluster, different (or maybe no) wing, different wheels, and external trim differences (cladding, bumpers, etc..), maybe a 5 speed instead of 6. Anyone else have some guesses?
However, just imagine if they put the current 4G63 (from the Evo 9) in the Ralliart maybe with a smaller turbo and have it detunned to 250hp. That would be great. The potential! I doubt they would do that though.

Any updates? Of course, I've called all the dealers in my area and they know nothing about a 2008 ralliart (shocker). One guy even tried telling me that the GTS is this years version of the ralliart "except it's faster than last years"... that's where I hung up.
Anyway, if the Turbo/AWD Ralliart rumors are true, then I will heavily consider trading in my 05 RA (18 k miles). The evo is my dream car but being a college student, it's not in my price range row.
I just hope the 3rd rumor regarding no manual on the floor is untrue.. that would be a killer for me.

Lancer with turbo would be around 210 HP.
EVO X is going to have 300... So in performance we could tell the difference, but it'd be nice to be able to tell them apart.
1 tail pipe not an EVO. two tail pipes EVO. And i'm sure it won't look the same.
and I believe they said around 250hp for the lancer GSX

yea i've got official info, but unfortunately i cant and wont leak it all
ill give you this:
-production date is June 2008 (it will be in dealership across europe end of june)
- it will be named ralliart in europe (probably in the states also), stop saying it wont
- same engine as evo x, they are aiming at 240hp, will require premium unleaded RON 98 in europe
- it will have RECARO seats, someone mentioned earlier that it wont
I've seen a production ready picture of a ralliart... Its million times better than the basic lancer, like an upscale lancer gts
it has a different front bumber (the whole front is different), hood.....
basically, ralliart is coming in europe (and US probably) in 12 months
they're gonna reveal the ralliart in march 2008 at geneva motorshow
evo x on the other hand is coming earlier
production date is december 2007 (it will be in US dealerships at the start of february, across europe aroung april)
they're gonna reveal it at frankfurt motor show in september this year
thats all i'm prepared to give you (i probaby gave too much anyway, but i told you about the engine few months ago...)

Well to be frank, saying it has the same engine is a little misleading. The Lancer DE has the same engine, the 4B11.
It's good for Mitsu to offer a mini Evo to compete directly with the WRX, but I hope the Ralliart is visually different from the Evo.
