Does anyone know when the Lancer is going to be officially unveiled at a car show?

This is the styling direction that Mitsu should have taken 4-5 years ago, instead of turning all of their products into goofy looking pontiacs. They would have been so much better off and not near bankruptcy.

These new style cars will no doubt dring mitsu back from the dead.

That would make sense as I don't think the Eclipse GS and Galant DE/ES which also currently use the 4G69 will swap to a new 4cyl in the middle of their life cycle either, but I dunno for sure.

Actually Mitsubishi is already using the new 2.4l "World" Engine in the new Japanese Outlander (the American market Lancer and Outlander will be built in Japan although it is already known that American market Outlander will feature only a 3.0l V-6 which obviously is not in the "World Engine" family).

Anyway, I surely hope that the basic Lancer will have the new 2.0l "World" engine as it would be a big improvement over the current offering (from around 120hp to 150hp for around the same price) and the RA could use the new 2.4l.

This would be a great competitor for the WRX.

You say that as if it were a bad thing. Wether or not the 3.0 in the Outlander is a W.E. or not it is a new design. It is a new all aluminum MIVEC design, not just a any old 6G72.

Oh no, I didn't say that the new all-aluminum 3.0l V6 which is going to be found in the new Outlander is a bad thing, actually it is a very interesting design, it will be the first ever PZEV V-6 on US soil, I know performance people don't care about it but from the engineering point of view it is basically amazing to create a 220HP gas engine that basically doesn't produce much of CO2 and is actually more environment friendly (not as efficient) than the Toyota hybrids.

You are correct.
However, as far as I know, is only under contract to buy the W.E. from the Dundee plant for U.S. manufactured vehicles (Galant/Eclipse) .
Whilst was part of DCX there were plans to have the Lancer built alongside the Caliber. But for now the Lancer will continue to be built in Japan (as well as some other countries in Asia).
I believe is permitted to fit the Lancer (and other models) with the W.E. and import them into the U.S.
IMO, it would be inefficient to ship CBU's (Completely Built-up Units) and then have to install the engine seperately.

Actually there are 5 GEMA plants around the world (2 are located in USA, 2 in South Korea, and 1 in Japan which belongs to Mitsubishi). The new Japanese Outlander which uses the 2.4l "World" engine actually has it's engine made to Mitsubishi specifications and is totally built/assembled in Shiga, Japan so I am guessing that if the US market Lancers will be assembled in Japan they will also get it's engines from it's own Shiga plant. Mitsubishi has no obligation to buy engines from the American plants as why should they if they have their own plant manufacturing it's own versions of "World" engines. Also you have to remember that the "World" engine found in Dodge won't be exactly the same as found in Hyundai or Mitsubishi. It's the same basic philosophy but different execution, so far Mitsubishis version found in the Outlander offers the best balance between horsepower and torque (when compared to the 2.4l Caliber engine).

Wow. that's gonna look good. Unfortunately though, I love the way the Evo 8 and 9 look and they are gonna be changed to a very similar look as the RA. that saddens me.

i have to agree, the body look very similar to a acura tsx. but yet this looks too simliar to the evo X, i dont think it its the ralliart because they usually keep the evos and the regular lancers with different front fascias.
