haha its not your driving to tell you the truth i like driving with my hand on the knob; its just one of those things you can do for yourself to not burn a hole in your hand; putting a sock over your knob is just ridiculous its like putting one over your *******! but anyways do what you want; also you can prevent from being burnt and cooling it off but using your fingers, to shift grears or even better yet you can shift from the shifterneck (i dont know the real name of the leather over the shifter where you screw in the knob)...

Okay, what the heck does this mean:
It's rather obvious where things stand, and the depth of understanding and desire involved.
I suggested a number of shift knobs what are non-metalic. Which by some amaing coincidence happens to be what the OP is looking for. I did not, on the other hand, claim that everyone who feels that their shiftknob gets uncomfortably hot is doing it all wrong.

And how is it obvious where things stand? You don't know how I drive and I don't know how you drive. You don't know me and I don't know you. So how is this obvious?

I enjoyed beyond my expectations:

Besides, if you wear a ring, there's a chance that the ring will scratch the metal one and that sort of sucks.
I had in ITR which came with a metal shift knob. A friend of mine drove it and he's into big rings and stuff and he scratched my shift knob. I don't see why this is such an invalid point. If you buy a nice looking one and accidentally scratch it, then it's a shame.

I suppose we'll now be told that we should all wear gloves.

Edit: I really liked this, too:

Oh, and I put my car in neutral and pull the handbrake when I stop at the lights if that's what you mean.

There isn't much left to say
Umm, it's actually how you're supposed to stop at traffic lights and any long stops. You brake until tha car becomes stationary an appropriate and safe distance from the car in front. Put into neutal once you have come to a stop and apply the handbrake. It's in the Highway Code in England. It can't be that different in the US. I'm sure the British DVLA would love to know that they've been telling people absolute crap all these years. Google DVLA and I'm sure there's contact details.

Correct me if I'm wrong...and I may be because of my current "newbie" status...but don't they sell windshield shades in the states? I am spending my days in Japan at the moment, and I could be mistaken. Better driving techniques are always appreciated out on the road, especially with a 300hp monster but I don't think they're relevant in this situation.

They do, and everyone with half a brain uses them in Arizona, but it's still 110 degrees outside and your car is literally an oven when all the windows are rolled up. You could probably cook a Betty Crocker meal inside your car while you're at work... I'm sure naucrx has tried this already.
