Newbi, Just got my evo and had a few ?'s

1st of all love the car bought it from MI,

? # 1 how long does a normal clutch last i know depends on how you drive but avg?

? #2 needed new tires any suggestions? Cheap and long tread wear?

and the car is currently stock and wanted alittle more power so i was thinking a boost control? any good ones? and anything else i should do to the car
the car has 9700 miles on it, and has blacked out front and rear lights and thats it
its a daily drive so don't want to turn it into a straight racing car, just wanted alittle more power

#1 50K for normal no launch .

#2 i m using BF Goodrich gforce sports now, thread wear rated 320 if i m not wrong.

as for boost control u can do a search here... Hallman, forge, blah blah blah... they are all pretty good.

for more power, u should get a boost controller, exhaust and a tune.

lastly.. welcome and congrat on yr new ride!!

upping boost won't do much good if you're lacking fuel, ecu starts pulling timing, etc. Best thing to do for more power is to get a turboback exhaust. Check the vendor section on here.. there are some setups i've seen for as low as $500 bucks...

Clutch will last forever if you don't abuse it...

TBE and a tune; that's it. You'll gain nearly 50-80hp and be very happy. Tons of options (search). Some exhausts can drone on the Evo with only a 5speed, so careful if that matters to you.

Tires, if you want some good priced all-seasons, try either the Continental Conti Sport Compacts or the Falken Rt615's (or something like 615). They're both about $500-600 for a set of 4 depending on where you go. I know tirerack.com carries the Conti's. I ran them on my 03 Evo and 05 STi and had no complaints in the wet or snow - obviously less grip in the dry.

Who did you get it from in MI (miEVO member - scn name?) -- Just wondering who we lost from miEVO...must have missed someone sold their car.

Or if you just want a some easy power - just get a custom flash. That will still get you some ponies (of course these would help get you more - TBE, MBC, WB, IX BOV + flash)

Click the link in my signature, I have tires for sale - make offer.

Using cheap, long lasting tires, take much away from the EVOs sharp handling.

OK, so u said car is stock, so am I to assume you still have the original Adavans on it? If so, why not just get the same ones to replace? I have 7K miles on mine and am getting ready to replace the stockers, looks like ~275 per tire. Mine still have life left, but I am all about good tires, so I will replace mine early. FWIW: Your tires are the things that transmit the cars power to the road you drive on. Don't compromise with crappy cheap tires, get the best you can.
