Avoid dumping the clutch hard for as long as possible. It takes gear quite a long time to bed in, especially the ring & pinion. The more miles you rack up before you start dumping the clutch like a maniac the better.

i work at honda....we build the pilot and the odyssey...they take every car out on a test track before they ever ship them to the car lots.....they usually have about 10 miles on them when they get to the lots....my evo had 80 miles on it before i ever test drove it....due to others driving it i guess...and it had 100 miles on it when i bought it.....i just followed the manual and started slowly and changed gears slowly and accelerated changing gears at 2500-4000k.....i could tell when the rings started to fully seat.....it was probably around 500 miles or so...i don't know why people think you have to rev it way up to 5 or 6k to seat the rings...this is not necessary... that's why the manual says keep it below 5k...it may take longer to seat the rings this way but it will be better for the engine

you couldnt be more wrong about seating the rings properely....how where you able to tell when they seated at 500 miles? And If I was buying a brand new car, Id never buy one with more than 5 miles on the clock......just my 2 cents though, not being a doushe bag.

why is keeping it below 5k like says wrong?....they made the engine ...they know how to break it in....you can tell when it happens because the rpms get smoother as you climb...it's not a huge difference but you can tell that the car starts driving smoother when climbing through the rpms....i bought the car with 100 miles on it because it was the only one around
