TT harnesses: what works with what?
So I already have the Blitz FATT Turbo Timer....will a hks turbo timer harness work with this tt? I have heard that it won't but a website selling it says that it will. Blitz makes one however it is about 10-15 bucks more than the hks. So i was just wondering if anyone knew!! Thanks

to arrive tomorrow and I'll install it with my FATT timer as soon as my timer comes in.
I can let you know whether the wiring is the same...but I have a IX.

That would be great, thanks!!
Generally all TT harness should work with eachother. I had both and HKS and Greddy TT harnesses on my 2g Eclipse, which is the same harness they evo's use. I hooked up both an Apexi and Greddy TT to the same harness.
I installed my turbo timer today.
The harness was not correct.
The aftermarket harness has 3 wires.
Red = Constant
Blue = Accessory
Green = Ignition
There are a few more wires like yellow and black but those are simply jumpers that dont affect the turbo timer.
I had to switch the harness wires. I swapped the yellow wire with the blue.
Basically the Constant and Ignition worked fine, but the accessory was not correct.
To be sure, wire test the stock wires.
I may put up a diagram tomorrow. Right now Im a little tired.

Hmm, I did a quick search and it seems they are the same harness for both the 8 and 9's. How did you determine it wasnt correct? Was your turbo timer not working?

On that link, in the first picture. That white plug should be the same for all turbo timers, making them somewhat universal. Thats the reason you need a vehicle specific harness/adapter.
I found this link pertaining to installing a TT on a IX. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=186698

The aftermarket harness is the same for the 8 and 9.
I think that's why there is a problem. Because the ignition wires for the 8 and 9 might be different.
I did not test the harness first. I wire tested the stock ignition wires first. I found the wiring diagram for my turbo timer and tried to see if they matched up. They didn't.
I think it's a bad idea to just throw the wiring in and "hope" it works. There is a ground wire in the stock ignition. So if the wiring is backwards enough, you can short out the brain of the timer or blow your ignition fuse or worse.

The best way to do things:
1. Find the wiring diagram for your turbo timer. There really are only 3 wires needed for the timer to work. Constant, Accessory, Ignition
2. Take a test light, and test the wires on the stock ignition to find
Constant - has power all the time
Accesory - has power when you turn the key to the first position
Ignition - has power when the key is on the "on" position
3. Make sure that when you plug the aftermarket harness into the stock ignition that the 3 wires match up. The rest of the wires are simply jumpers...they do do anything.

That thread you posted makes sense now, The actual harness is the same, but the way the
"white" plug connects to the TT itself may be different based on brand. Causing a short or what not.
