Just get a boost gauge and make sure you aren't mashing the gas and reaching 19psi.

I'm averaging about 24mpg (60% traffic and city with 40% on highway) with my driving style. ~280 miles with 11.5-8 gallons at fill up. Once again modulation of the throttle is most crucial but I keep myself at 3K rpms as even the slightest increase in throttle pressure after this level makes the boost increase exponentially.

Do you really get 10mpg? Perhaps there's a mechanical issue that needs addressing? I boost all the time, rev high and almost never drive on the highway. The lowest I've seen was 17mpg. As mentioned before, modulating the throttle effectively is one of the keys to good mileage, and to overall smoothness, but if you're getting 10mpg there may be something else at play.

^ He probably drives around with a trailer attached. With a parachute. And goes around with 5 (real fat) friends all the time.

I am probably the least fuel saving driver in the universe and I'm getting anywhere between 16-19mpg. I'm on the stock turbo and we only get crappy 95RON petrol here. The car gets 130+mph daily and I have a LOT of crap in my car (4 box folders, 300CD's and a couple of books) and it's about 90degF average here so the A/C is on permanent. I'm still not getting anywhere near 10mpg.

I understand. Fuel consumption is completely irrelevant to me; that's not why I drive an Evo. For the most part, the car only sees less than 3K when it's not warmed-up. I'm at WOT as often as the condition allow and I've never seen 10mpg.

Its called math. Get a calculator. Miles at fill up/Gals Used = MPG (EX: 264/12.4 = 21.29 MPG)

Shouldnt have gotten that 30k+ car now when you cant afford to fill it up.

Rant On:
You are 17, with a $7/hr job...what bank thought it was a good to give you a loan? (Note: I am not hating that you have an Evo at 17 - I had 3 cars at 17 (96 Impala SS, 92 Bravada HO, and a 76 Vette), but I still was living within my means - away at college, and could fill them all up. -- Im being mean because you should have thought about all the costs before you got a car.)
Rant Off.

Threads about MPG in an Evo are one thing - ridiculous. Unless the tread is about a mech. problem, i.e. 10 MPG and dripping gas everywhere.

I do the same when I'm just cruising around town and not beating on the car.

I do ofcourse enjoy what I paid for (turbo!) and I've never seen under 22mpg!
No, Idea what ur doing to get that low gas mileage.

Ya, 10 was more of a.. sarcastic overstatement. I got around 16MPG the first week I had it, when I was drifting around every corner and shifting at 7K RPM. Now it's time to relax a little bit.

It isn't that I can't afford it. I can afford it pretty easy. However, a extra few MPG every week might allow me to get ahead on the loan or put some money away for the day I kill the clutch. I did think about the costs, 20MPG is about what I expected. That is about what I get when I drive normally. Like they all said though, it's more than the MPG. It's what is good for the car - and it should yeild a decent MPG.

Now I know you think it's probably a horrible idea still, because I should be able to set aside money without a problem for mechanical problems that might arrise in the future. Life is all about figuring it out. Thus far, I have.

Anyway, this car is a family friendly car. It's fast, sure. Doesn't mean you can't relax every once in awhile.

Edit: That's cool if you don't think I should have one. I appreciate all the people that have helped me out in this thread. Telling me buying it was a mistake though - that's just plain wrong. Buying it was more of a... challenge.

No, I think its cool to have one - if you can afford it. Saving cash to mod - good idea.
