Im justa Kid! haha
Wow. Ok, so i'm a newbie here... i thought that after 3 years of begging for an Evo, I was lucky my senior year of high school to get an ES. My parents put two grand down as an early grad gift (my ONLY grad gift), but i made payments and insurance. 3 months after graduation and after doubling payments every month, i wrote a check for 5 grand and paid it off. i didn't get so pissed off when people told me that i was probably gonna get a ticket or in a wreck for being young, i just pretty much was like "yeah, i've only been driving a little over a year, and this goes a lot faster than my mom's wagon so that's a possibility" and kept driving.
i used to wonder why "older" people slammed us kids.
now i'm kind of starting to understand.
and quite frankly, it's pretty embarassing.
don't say "hey, i'm only 17 and i have an evo, any takers?" because that's just an open invitation for getting slammed.
but obviously some people are still too young to process the whole action --> reaction thing. it's one of Newton's laws. you probably learned that in physics sometime in october last year.
seriously. if you (anyone under 20 who thinks that providing a vehicle for a child is practically a parent's lawful duty) are trying to gain any kind of respect whatsoever, do what all the others (most of the over 20's involved in this topic) are really wanting to do (and should do as well).
shut up.
if you're so mature and responsible, then just let us know when you've passed your 3-year mark with no wrecks or tickets, k?

Sorry, but again i haven't read anything but this post, but i think some people are too quick to judge sometimes (I'm not saying you are judging anybody but i just mean in general.) especially with younger drivers like myself. I think the evo is a fairly quick car but its not anything a mature person can't handle age not being a factor(Within reason.). I had two 1g's awd's before my evo, one having close to 300hp aswell and i think as long as your not stupid about how you drive and just take things gradually as in getting to know your car and how it reacts and not just goin out trying to "hot-rod" it everywhere then you'll be fine. I love my MR, and i feel a great deal of responsibility (Mostly because its a brand new car.) when i drive it and i'm always very careful.... not to say i dont ever "get on it" but if i do i try to be very aware of everything around me, as in other cars, ect. I guess what i'm trying to get at is just because yes, its a 270hp car and yes it will do this and that and it can get out of hand if you let it... that doesn't mean its automatically a "bad" car for a young person to drive, they just need to understand that you have to be more careful, act more responsible/mature ect. than with a normal "everyday" car. But thats just my opinion.
Ok, I could only make it halfway through the tread but...
Basicly with the "kid" being 17 and owning an EVO, its not that hard to do when your living at home (if he is), no Rent/Morgage, food, electric, taxes, etc.
And yeah all the older guys are right about not doing anything stupid cuz 17+fast car = the cop ain't going to put up jack ****.
And having done supid **** in cars that were definitely NOT performace when I was young, just be careful.
Otherwise, enjoy the car and AutoX!
