So you do street race, just not like an idiot? 17y/o with a Evo IX, im positive you've done it with the evo and your previous car. Why on earth would a 17y/o need an evo? Obviously it wasn't bought for the carbon fiber wing,

Ok, hard to believe, but that's stretch from the truth.

You have gotta be joking me? Not much more than a minivan? Do your research...

The car note isn't the problem with paying for the evo, it's usually the insurance and the gas, so your getting away with murder young one.

No need to assume, because in this case we are talking about liljj221 and he clearly admits to it. So your reponse to purecoda was a failed attempt.

I said in cold hard plain english I do not insure it myself. It is in my parents name, it will be for a long time, even when I am paying for it.
You must live in a lil town of about 3 in south dakota or some unknown state nobody cares about.

If that's the case, drop from your parents and insure it on your own. It's not rocket science, its much cheaper under your parents that's why you have it there.

This truely made no sense and was an eye sore for errors. My gosh, what is wrong with you young members? I guess blah blah blah > taking the time to type proper english.

Exactly (what I bolded), but thank's for the background,

No, the correct way (read below)

well the bottom line is that giving a young kid(16-18) a car like the evo to learn how to drive on is like expecting an infant to swim for the first time in a 4 foot pool.... its just plain stupid and a its disaster waiting to happen.

Why do research when I have an evo and a minivan on the same insurance and they are only a few hundred apart per year.

How can a response fail? Obviously I responded, so I clearly did very well at hitting "submit." We are talking about him, and he clearly admits to his parents helping him. Where did he say they payed for the car?

Pretty much, New York. Why did you feel you needed to respond anyway? Nothing you said has any merit or has not already been said.

That is exactly what I said in what you quoted of me. Once again, why are you typing? Why would I get my own insurance anyway - as has been said - it is alot cheaper this way.

HAHA this thread is pointless. I don't get why so many people bash on this guy's age and the fact that he has an evo. WHo cares if he paid for it with cash or if he's paying for it or if his parents bought it. The fact is he has one and came here to get some info/knowledge. How is bashing helping anyone. I didn't know that it said on the evo "18 and up only"... hahhaha...

Calling young people babies shows immaturity. In showing that immaturity, you're right, only it isn't the young ones that are the babies.

Exactly. Not to mention that if they wanted to bash something, there are many obvious things to bash - such as the rap-gansta language.

+1

But on the other hand liljj2221 has to think before he types and the gangsta-rap language has got to go.
Where did he go anyway? LOL

Hey kid, i was also 17 when i got my car. Im 18 now and these guys do have a point. Dont take it personal or anything but as you are younger you tend to take things for granted. I hope you act responssibly with your new car. I really found it helpfull to meet friends that are experienced in the evo word. (shout out to DC Evo Club!) You will learn how to drive and enjoy your car as you grow. Most importantly just have fun, take car of your car, and try not to get in too much trouble. LOL

Thankfully, I had responsible parents who limited my access. Otherwise, I can assure you that I'd be long dead or injured for life after wrapping the Evo around a tree. An incident not unlike the one that recently happened here with a kid in a WRX. He's dead.

I'm saying this under the assumption that a young Evo driver is a high-performance driving enthusiast. If not and it's a matter of filling a desire to look like one, then drive whatever you want for all I care. Just stay out of my way.

Thats perfectly said

ive got a damn 91 mr2 that i could barely afford at the time(i was 18, maybe 18.5 when i got it) and i worked everyday in the summer, and when i was in high school, i worked on occasional week nights. STILL to this day, i dont want to sell it because i am afraid i cant afford a NEWER car(FYI, i was looking at a 20th anni. golf, it is like 14.5k and im afraid i cant afford it!!) how the hell are kids affording $30,000 sports cars with out any "help from mommy and daddy." the reason i am venting here is i believe that evo's are meant for people ON SALARY, not hourly wages, and especially not kids who have NO BACKGROUND CREDIT. so a question to liljj, if you ARE paying for this car (which at your age, im not really sure how you are making a sufficient amount to afford this car??) do you plan to mod it at all?

dude, just trust your elder's here(and as many of his fellow 18yo buddies want to step-up and defend him, go ahead), but THEY WILL ALL TELL YOU, it isnt very wise to go out and put yourself 30,000grand in debt......

Something you guys gotta realize, nothing you say will change the fact that parents will still buy these cars for their kids. No matter how many times you tell them to be careful, they will drive recklessly. Even when their friends die, they still street race. I see it in my city on a day to day basis. As sad as it seems, its the truth.

Self control is key. None of us are angels lol.
