Flaming on the young ones isn't going to get you guys anywhere. Many of them will yell "YO REPREZZZZENT" and proceed to ignore all your rational comments.

There are a few ones that seems mature, such as EricH, that are responsible enough to pay for at least a portion of the car payment, gas, insurance, etc. At least that way the money their parents are paying is less than what some spoiled brat with even a Civic that mommy and daddy bought them is spending.

Yes I too believe ~300hp is a bit too much for such inexperienced drivers but at least many of them are taking a more mature route to this whole car deal. I respect the ones driving an Evo and paying for a bulk of the expenses more than those driving around in a Corolla that don't drop a dime for their car and related expenses.

^ Comments like that are what gets you younger Evo owners flamed on so bad.

Take the mature route and you will get respect sooner or later. Believe me I was once in your guys' position as well.

People thought I was spoiled as hell and got flamed on when I purchased one of the first RSX Type S in Washington. This was roughly a month after the car was released and even at the age of 19, people still flamed me. Mommy and daddy buy you a silver spoon with the car too? so on and so forth. I took the mature route about the whole thing and did get respect after a few months of taking their crap. I also did a few write ups that have since disappeared on my RSX forum but taking the more mature route isn't going to hurt you at all.

Sometimes even us older guys can get immature, but don't take the bait!

Im going to have to agree on the bolded part. Because if it wasnt true, then there would seriously be no Drama. If "older" people didnt care that times have changed and "younger" people can afford better and nicer things, there would be no problem in this thread at all, but it is because people are saying stuff like "Daddy & Mommy" stuff that is causing drama. I personally find it funny. In my honest opinion, I wouldnt care if I saw a 16 year old with a Ferarri. Because it just doesnt matter. It WAS NOT their fault they were born in a wealthy family. For the "Older" guys, what if you guys were born a little later and your parents had lots of money and they bought you an Evo? I bet you'd be happy as hell regardless what people say. This is just one of those kids that was born into a wealthy family, dont hate him for it for reals...Its seriously not his fault. He wanted an Evo, and he got it. Thats final....

+1. For some of us it's just hard to deal with the fact that everything we've worked for can just be handed or easily achevied by other people. For example, i risk my life everyday in the military to pay for my evo and a place to live. Other people dont have to really do anything as they are helped out by their parents or an inheritance or whatever the case is to get what us other people are working our a**es off for. But it's not our fault some kids grew up in a wealthy family as stated before. Pretty much the "older guys" need to understand it's not their fault the younger guys were raised that way, and the "younger guys" have to understand that you just got something it took the older guys years to get. It's just frustrating. By no means am i old, but i'm not young. I'm 20 years old but i worked for every penny i have.

.... isnt the whole point of working hard so that one day your kid will be the one that just goes "hey dad can i have an evo like yours" and you go... "hell yes son do you know what color you want?"

Im 17, my parents have not put 1 dime into my car, gas, insurance, or any mods. In fact, my mom still owes me around 20k for the downpayment on our house. I deal with marketing for companies such as Blockbuster Online, Video Professor, and AOL. Age is not a factor if you know your way around the internet. Its a gold mine, you just have to look at what works for you...I graduated in the summer of 06 making more than all my teachers...im not showing off, just trying to let you know that only because someone is 17, it doesnt mean that they have everything bought for em. I can see where you're coming from, Im pretty sure my case is not very common, but it does bother me when people automatically assume my mommy and daddy bought me my car.

I'm now almost 20 years old, i'm a pilot, a CTO (Control Tower Operator) Certified Controller, and almost done with my complete Air Traffic Control training and waitimg for my call from the FAA for training in oklahoma city. I have been detailing for many years (about 5 now i would say), and i have owned and operated a small landscaping buisness since i was about 16 years old...

My first car was a 2001 Audi A4 1.8t with giovanna rims, window tints, suspension, everything. I can't tell you haow many people told me i wasn't paying for it an what not. let alone it's no evo but it was up there in price for a kid my age to be paying for it myslef. It's true a lot of people out there are QUITE young and making big money! I was one of them. I was making close to 20 grand a summer as a 16 year old kid. i invested most of it and by the time i turn 20 my investments should come back to me Anyway, Now granted 80% of these kids on here with evo's are full of SH*T lol but i guartee there are a few that actually do pay for their own cars. Now how much of a good idea it is for a kid to have that much on his plate, idk thats for the parents to decide i guess. But i gotta say just from my experience that it is possible...quite possible

As far as if there ready for these cars, NO PROBABLY NOT. I'll tell you straight foward i wasn't ready for a turbo audi, it wasn't fast, it wasn't slow, it just wasn't a good first car choice. THings go to young kids heads! lol

Anyway for those of you out there paying for your evo's and are under 18, then KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. It's kids like you that go one to amke big money one day. Motivation is key in life. With that and good credit you can own ANYTHING! lol

FOR THE WIN

cheers (unless your under 21 of course )

Edit: i just have one questin though for your 06 18 year old and under evo owners, How u guyz have the credit to back up this car purchase, i paid cash for my audi but damn an 06 Mitsu...if you got approved i gotta here was your finacing rate is...

OR you could say "How about i pay for your college instead and get you a decently nice car to get you to and from school and then once you get your 4 year degree i will buy you a brand new evo" I would be happy with that as i was not fortunate enough to have that kind of choice.
