i dont believe that most of these 16 year olds pay for it all themselfs, let alone in most states 16 yr olds and high school students theres labor laws (ca i know for sure) that limit to how many hours there even aloud to work...and unless your working full time theres no way you can pay for it all themselves like so many of them claim and still be in school at the same time....
I bought my 2003 evo 8 about 9 months ago. (about 2 weeks before my 18th birthday) I am paying 100% of my car and my parents refuse to pay any portion of it whatsoever. The only thing that they did was cosign for it. I am a college student and work hard for what I own. I pay my own payments, insurance, gas, repairs, taxes, etc... I had a 5.0 mustang before I bought the evo, and learned how to drive a sports car on it. I will admit that I did do a few stupid things in it due to peer pressure, but I am past that stage in life. Street Racing = I believe that anyone can have an evo as long as they are responsible and financialy ready for it. I know far too many people in my town that drive like total retards and think they are "cool" by doing this. It's not impossible to afford an evo at my age, but again I put about 1/2 down ($10K) from the $$ I had been saving from the past 2 years of working and from selling my old mustang...

Some props to you, but these are the little quotes and things that ticks off older people As for me I don't give a damn...it feels like yesterday when I was very very immature lol been there done that.(I still am to my wife LOL)
Just be responsible kid...if we see you in "I crashed.....^%&%*^%" then you fit into the "typical"young evo owners and another reason evo gets that negative image...

^^^ At 17, all I had was a bike and skateboard. I still have the skateboard, RIP to the bike,

Where is everbody getting this 'FREE' evo from? I seriously doubt his parent sat down and siad 'Ok, lets by our lil jj his first car, so heres what we came up with was the:

Honda Civic
Toyota Corolla
Nissan Sentra

... and the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX

JJ what do you want? I doubt jj said "ill take a corolla in white please" and the parents said "No, your taking this evo whether you like it or not, were going to mitsubishi right now and buying it, no questions!"

Im positive if he had any sensible parents, he moan and cry for the evo and they said no, but after more moaning and crying for the evo, the parents gave in and help by the car. Let's be honest, the only reason why a 17y/o would want an evo is because

A) He saw it in a street race
B) Was in a friends evo who was in a street race
C) Wants to brag around his friends and neighborhood imports that he can smash about 90% of the cars on the road in stock form.
D) Wants to street race
E) .. did I mention street racing?

If street racing is your thing, then hey.... go for it, but don't lie and say one of the reason for the purchase has nothing to do with beating more expensive cars on the street. That's just one of the reason why the evo is so expensive to insure, and why am having a tuff time finding a good rate for me; damn I hate living in socal.

Can you say that? Didn't think so. Go back to high school, learn a few things about finance, then come back and contribute with the rest of the adults.

Did you want an award? Maybe a trophy engraved with "I have my own policy." I'm glad you're an assman, although I fail to see what it has to do with the topic at hand. You're right too. You're not a punk kid. Like you said. You're a punk assman.

Why would I have to say that? I don't go aroung bragging. What you are doing right now is equal to me going up to a 4 year old and bragging about my awesome candy I just bought at WalMart. You're a joke. You thought you knew something that you didn't. Next time, keep your hands off the keyboard.

P.S. I love how when its time to respond to someone, you quote a tiny part of what they said, and then ramble about something completely unrelated to anything.

Edit: This will be my last post. You're daft. Once again, as you said, you're an ***.

aww.....did I upset someone? You have no clue....many have stated this already, you have yet to listen. Until you have YOUR OWN policy (not one shared with mommy), don't come here talking like you know the difference in rates and whatnot.

I qouted the part that had to do with me....you are hopeless. Thank god if you quit posting here....you are just like alot of the other noobs that have been appearing lately. Wasn't one of your posts talking about driving the evo without spooling up so you could save gas? Yep....here it is. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=229390

Why the hell are you even driving an evo? Obviously you have trouble affording it. Do you think it will get cheaper to own over time? Wrong.

Bye Bye now.

Eric, you're a very bright kid, but you're not going to win this battle. You see, the folks you're talking to know something you don't - what life is like after 17 years of age. It's obvious that you believe in the virtue of your position, as you have no other experience to fall back on, but in years to come you may see that it's not fully congruent with realistic expectations.

Let me also say how much I appreciate your use of written English. That said, you must see how titling a thread, "Im justa Kid! haha" isn't necessarily the best way to avoid the unpleasant. Good luck and stay safe.

i think an evo is a bad car for a first car and when your 16 or 17 when you start out driving your going to have little accidents that you wont have with a couple years of driving experience i dont see why parents get their kids or let them get such nice cars as there first cars when there going to mess them up. i cant really complain im 19 and i have an evo but i bought it myself i pay for everything and my first car was a 1995 f-150 it was a good truck, a nice vehicle to learn how to drive with.
