Evo n00b need help! 1st car!
you know ill be honest with you, if i was your age all i would think about is buying a evo, i used to have a 75 dodge dart swinger right,... .318 built, all muscle, no weight, fun little car.....till one night..... comming home from my GF house i hit some black ice, yea slammed into a curb, bent the body, tore the k frame, crushed the upper and lower A arms, etc etc.....its funny cus everyone always thinks that there a good driver, when really in most cases thats not the problem, its the other idiot, (or natural occurance) on the road that will destroy your hot little toy, now i have been driving since i have been 16, got it the day i turned, im 22 now, at 19 i bought my evo 8, loved it to death, talk about a change, a lot more responsive, the AWD system, turbo, you name it, pretty *****in machine!! did you know this car can lirterally out perform a lamborghini murceliago??.... i was in the navy so i had a nice little 8,000 enlistment bonus so guess what... i bought a brand new rally red evo 8.....sunroof and everything.... when everyone was out getting drunk i was spending money on parts for my evo, when i was done i had a grand total of 45 to 46 thousand into her. talk about a rocket. and it was my baby more so than any other GF ive ever had... or will have, BUT one night i was heading home from fresno CA back to the base and guess what....some stupid street racers were taking up both lanes .....by the time i see this im already doing 90, i wont lie some people cruise at 100 mph down there cus its all straight stretches.... anywho i swerve.... thinking i can dodge em... and i do....BUT.....at the time my evo 8 (american version) didnt come with a AYC (yaw controller) and unfortunetly it makes the evo a bit unstable at high speeds so i started fishtailing brought it down to about 25 mph before i slid off the road, didnt hit knowbody, and me and my buddy were ok but when i slid off the road i slid down a sloped bank and then leveled off, no side damage or colission but it did push up the front of my evo upward by 1 inch and also crushing the intercooler and puncturing the ac condenser, and radiator by the time i had got it all back together it cost me 6,500 (and i didnt even hit anyone)..........basic moral of the story, the evo has *****, some searous ones, stock or modded, it dont matter, and if you dont know what your doing with it you will probably end up dead, its just the truth of the matter...... i dont want to descurage you in buying an evo....hell if i was you i would get one, my dad never got one for me lol!!! but its the things that you would never think to happen that achually do happen. i was a experienced driver and after i go back to the crash site i see that if i had gone off the road any earlier to either side i would of hit the bridge and be dead and if i would of gone off to the right side after the bridge i would or hit a telephone pole and then some barb wire, not to menchine it was a 8 foot drop!!! i was lucky enough to dodge the racers, dodge oncomming traffic, and land my evo in the best place possible, with minimal damage.... anything else and i guarantee you i would be dead, and certainly my car too, the aftermarket intercooler i had in it doesent fit in there with the bumper brace so guess what.... i took it out, there was a fiberglass giallia clip, radiator, engine, a small little bar in the dash... then me .....thats all there is to protect ya so i guess i was hella lucky that night. sure as hell made me wake up......anywho didnt mean to write ya a story but just dont let your friends enfluence you to do stupid crap when your driving, thats gonna be a big thing ar your age trust me.....i would recommend like everyone else here suggests to just get something cheap, reliable, and with descent power that your ok with to learn on, if you want the evo..cool...get it but dont drive it lol......not till you get some really good experience.....the worlds full of idiot drivers that shouldent be on the road, some even uninsured, my words of wisdom to you is to just be cautious. always be looking for the idiots on the road......have fun driving but just dont push it, you can be in over your head in a heartbeat. good luck bud and be safe, lataaaaa.....

Hmm. I turn 17 in March, and i'm getting a MR.
But i've also learned on a GrpN tuned E30 M3, and driven many Ferraris, Aston Martins, so on and so on. I also have a 996 911tt.
But, i'm the douchebag who drives 10 miles under the speed limit.
So idk, i think he should be able to get one without being hassled, i just think if he's going to be stupid then he should think twice.

When I was 16 a $30K+ sportscar was not even a possibility. My parents weren't rich, but they were smart. I got an '85 Astro minivan with only one working door handle to learn how to drive. I hated it, but I learned to drive before buying my own Evo (with my own money) several years later.
I'll keep my eye on the Columbus Disbatch for crashes involving a teenage driver and high speeds. Stay safe no matter how it turns out.

I'd love to hear a ferrari, in person, let alone drive one
Smart of you to keep it down in your state which may be one of the only ones stricter than mine about speeding.

I guess this only proves your parents are rich...
I guess its true what they say, some people have to earn their rights others get it handed to them on a silver platter.
When you wreck it, let me know. I've been looking to getting a repairable Evo.
Backstory: my 86 Mustang got totaled out because some lady ran a red light. My buddy had a computer that was in the back seat - it got smoked too. Not only did I loose the car, my buddy lost his PC. Atleast he and I were alright though. The cops didn't give anyone a ticket though - even though the oldass lady ran the light (prolly because I was 20 and she was 45, you kno, she had more "Experience").
