i am 18 years old and i drive an evo. and actually got it at 17 as my grad. present. on my opinion it doesnt matter what age u are but if u are careful and responsible i belive u would be fine.
I am 16 with an EVO and I am a very responsible driver. I drove my dad's 97 stick since i was 14. I also went to a racing school where actually, they first taught me how to get out of a tough situation. My friends are dare devils when driving their cars. I am not really spoiled. I had to get straight A's in 9th grade and I had to get straight A's this year too to get my car. I take very good care of it too. I passed all my driving tests with flying colors. It just depends on the maturity level of the person.
[QUOTE=Mister2zx3]Age - completely unimportant.

i couldnt agree more... im 17 and drive an rs, sure i get bad looks from older guys because im a kid. im glady you guys dont immediately think a kid will wreck. i havent because i know my limits and dont pull that "boy racer" crap on the streets.

I think the kids around here have parents with too much money and the lack of judgment.

personally i agree with the whole mentality idea. Im 18 and yes I dont drive an evo but it truly is in the mind of the driver in my opinion. I know not to **** around when driving because of all the stuff ive seen all my friends go through and plus, i just find it irresonsible to drive like a maniac on a road. Yes, i am guilty of speeding like all others, but my usual parkway cruise speed is around 70-75. One of my classmates in senior yr of HS got his license suspended for idiotic driving, and well he eventually ended up crashing his car. Numerous other friends have been ticket for mistakes as they drove. Im currently worried as hell for my friend whos 17 and just got her license. Her parents are gona buy her a g35 coupe for her first car. Honestly i dont think shes ready for it. She doesnt have the proper mentality. I mean im not old enough to lecture but my personal belief is that when it comes to cars you have to earn your way up. You have to start off with the lesser powerful car and then work your way up, at least at my age. In my opinion you do not gain the respect of the road and your own property if you start of with an amazing car. I started with a 96 jetta and now a ralliart. Im waiting for my chance to take it to the track to test it. And i know its a little off topic but are there any racing schools in NJ, preferably around the Union County area?

DUDE, YOUR A "SPED" IN MY OPINION! I GOT MY 2003 GS-R WHEN I JUST TURNED 16, AND LOOK AT ME NOW MAN, I'M 18 WITH ANOTHER 2005 RS. I THINK YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO DRIVE AND YOU ARE COMPLETELY WRONG SAYING THAT... AGE DOES NOT MATTER DUDE, I JUST GUESS YOU SUCK AT DRIVING THAT'S ALL!
~ 18 YEAR OLD EVO DRIVE (NOW 18)
LOL. I had a '69 Mustang at 18, that was a pretty bad @$$ car to start with, but if I'd had an Evo, I probably would have killed myself... the Evo makes you feel like a driving god! The Mustang and I had several adventures, but they always ended with the 'stang remonding me that I was a mere mortal, with spotty power steering, poor brakes, hacked suspension and a big motor.
