For those Vids this one says its a knock-off but it comes really close to the sound of the S-15.

I did that on my old 240 with the blitz BOV. BTW compressor surge is bad on non-ball bearing turbos like the Evos. Cars like the S15 with the stock turbo and most aftermarket turbos have ball bearing center cartriges that can handle the turbo spinning in reverse which is what is happening.

And during compressor surge, the turbo does NOT spin backwards. The airflow stalls or reverses, but the turbo never spins backwards.
First, the s-15 sound is definitely a BOV and not compressor surge. No idea what BOV it is though.

good stuff

good stuff.....
The turbo never spins backwards. The exhaust energy will always be great enough to keep the turbo spinning forwards, even while the compressed air bounces off the closed throttle body and flow backwards through a forward moving compressor wheel (surge).
even better. http://www.turboneticsinc.com/faq.htm#bov

absolutely, BB turbos are better than non BB turbos for durability. They will handle it better, but it's still best to avoid surge all together like you said.
