Is the Mazdaspeed3 faster than stock evo8?
Hmm well I own a MS6. It is actually not bad of a car. I won't compare it to a EVO because they are different cars. But I have kept up with one. EVO IX. I never said i beat him, but I kept up with him. I was at his rear door all the way. That was stock for stock. MS6 are heavy ****'s but I think with the right mods it has it's potential.
...I had a guy here locally in a MS6 launch on me at the light...I just watched him go...way to go 'doomazz'
I am sure the very next forum session was "I smoked an evo"...
...personally I like the fact that the market is getting close with auto mfgs and that there are so many options available...not everyone can shell out over $30k on an Evo or STi...and a few bucks on the MS3 and you have a fun DD...
I did visit the mazdaspeed site and there was a few posts on 'vs. evo'...IMHO
to see posts about beating an Evo that had a CAI and BOV...I am more interested in seeing real track times and 1/4 slips...

If you mean faster to break into with little damage then yes. Open Sesame!

edit: By the way, elsewhere it says this method tricks the ecu to unlock the doors and conveniently disables the alarm. Mazda is said to only fix the problem if someone breaks your door. They will not fix the door damage or reimburse you for stolen items just replace the lock and put a plate to protect this area. This is what I have read, sorry I cannot remember that site.

speed 3 is a quick car, particularly on a roll with plenty of torque. having driven one, it could match a stock evo on a roll in 3rd gear. but thats about it.
not since the rx-7 has mazda really made a true performance car. speed 3 "has" performance, but not genuine performance components to take it to the level of the evo.

I certainly don't have the lightest or fastest 05 VIII in the world but I could barely pull on a MS3 from a roll. Granted I let him get ahead to see if I could reel him in (we were in the same lane) but I was pleasantly surprised (as a Mazda fan and RX7 owner). From a dig it's obviously not an issue but from a roll, if you don't have an 05 up and aren't modded, it'll be up to who is the best driver. But we all know who rules around a race course, right?

I used to be a tech at a mazda dealer for a few years and was working there when the speed 3 came in. I own an evo IX and let me tell you, there is no comparison stock for stock. The mazda is a decent car but at the end it is still a mazda that will never be really fast due to the lack of aftermarket vendors willing to cater to these cars like they do the evo. The pcm's on those cars are really finnicky even the ams tuners admit to that. The aftermarket world will not cater to those cars like our evo's either. Sure for the money I guess you get alot but when it comes down to it you get what you pay for especially when you are sick of the car and want something else good luck selling the mazda. The dealer I worked at had 06 model speed 6's when I worked there a few months ago that nobody even wanted them for $20,000 new for a base which has no leather or roof .........just my opinion so please dont bash me for it, if you want a real sports car then stay away from Mazda all together
