I'll show you some corrosion. I own a 66 Beetle!
Good for you. Don't sprain your neck.

P.S. Why did this thread get moved?

As for the rusty steering shaft.. I found it after looking for the OBDII port. Then I washed the car, and noticed water dripping inside the passenger footwell.

Camry? Don't be a smart ***. Only reason I bought this car was to have a decent beater and save money until my wife finishes her doctorates. Even my cheap Suzuki XL-7 didn't have half the initial issues this car has when new...
Jealous kids are going to ding it up for you every chance they get anyway. I can see how the water thing would be an issue, but in all fairness the 2 Mitsubishi's I have owned have been the only cars that I have ever bought new that I didn't have to take back to the dealership for problems right away.

These cars come over on boats and they do show some rusty spots. It's not a big deal. Keep the Evo nice and use the BMW for the beater! They are a dime a dozen anyway.

LOL.. I wish I still had the M3. I gave that up, along with the Zuk. The whole purpose of this was to consildate vehicles to save money. We also live in Manhattan where parking and insurance is expensive. Now if my wife didn't decide to go back to school, then I wouldn't be here...

The rust I was concerned about along with the leak, as it could be an indicator of a more serious issue. Living in the NE, we have snow and salt... even if I only keep this car for 2 or 3 years, I still like to take care of what I have.

Anyway - thanks for your comments.

You will enjoy this car. Just give it a while. Dealerships make the whole buying experience unpleasant. You always have that feeling that you need to check everything and make sure your not getting screwed.

It's not a luxury car, but you will find yourself having fun driving it.

Oh I've been having fun with it, that's for sure. Steering is very sensitive, combine that with a bit of torque steer, incredibly stiff sidewalls, and you really have to concentrate on driving.. just the way I like it.

Well, got my car back early this afternoon. Not bad really. I was surprised, considering all the bad press I've been reading about Mitsu service centers. My SA was actually very pleasant to work with; called me when he said he would, and addressed all of my concerns.
