Like the title says, theres a coating of dark oil in my intake. Could my turbo be leaking? I took off my turbosmart bov to oil it and stuck my finger in the intake tube and ran my finger along the inside and out came an oily finger. This cant be normal please help

 

lol thats oil from the crank case's pcv valve...the little hose coming from the valve cover to the intake..... of course if it is still connected...an oil catch can will fix that

 

This is normal since the valve cover has a breather tube that recirculates through the intake piping. If there's a very large amount of oil (pours out when tube was taken off), and lots of black smoke coming from your exhaust, then you might have a problem.

 

haha kinda figured that much! dosent smoke but that kinda freaked me out beacause it was thick i dont know i still like to get some more opinions though thanks for the quik replys.

i was aware this would happen since ive read multiple threads on oil in the intake but i just put off buying a catch can cause of those threads saying that catch cans are useless. oh well new investment now. any suggestions on catch cans?

 

weapon r catch can or the fighters garage catch can...both fit in the middle of the front strut bar...catch cans serve a purpose and one prpose only to prevent oil from gumming up your intake manifold...and from being sucked up by the turbo(if you have two catch cans or a multiple hose catch can system)

catch can still isn't necessary until your going through a good amount of oil. At the point where you are going through enough oil to require a catch can you really should have your engine checked out.

catch cans = waste of money
