i regret the evo9...
I am 18 also. I do work a lot. Trying to afford the car. But now I know i am not doing something right. Because I still have a long way to go, I can get this car when I graduate from college and work in a good company and I can afford any car i want. May be something better. So I am trading my car in and downgrade to a camaro z28. It's cheaper than an evo for sure.

If you don't make enough money for the car, or don't want to live for the car....you should let it go. They'll be around when you're in a better place monetarily. That whole "the price will go up" ....don't buy into that. 97 Integra type R (only 300+ imported) are still less than their price new, and MUCH rarer than our car
Get in get out. Thats an O.G.'s classic!
Listen here bud. Look at the big picture, then set some goals and act on it. Example; either work your tail off pick up more hrs or a 2nd or 3rd job and packrat money for as long as it takes to pay it off. Or get out of it and you will feel good if there are other things in life that you need to do. I just let go of my e8 gsr miss it everyday and i still have to settle my head when I see one cruizin but it feels great at the end of the day, I made the right choice and I have set a goal of when I will be able to get another one. Good luck bud.

Buying a car that you can't afford is just senseless. I could just as easily go to the Ferrari dealership, plunk down some change, and come online a few months later with a thread title saying "I regret buying my F430 because the payments and insurance are too much for me to handle."
Here's my response to the OP plain and simple: Sell the car, you're too poor for it.

for all the people who are buying evos brand new and can't afford it, STOP! the car will be around forever, don't let anyone scare you about buying used down the road cause youre gonna have to fix it sooner or later. the $1000 a month you are spending on the car now would vastly improve the quality of your life more than a car you can't afford. if you want it keep it. IMO, sell it, buy a beater or a nice performance car thats cheaper. there's alot of them out there. get the evo in the future, repair or replace the parts it needs. the money you save now could help in the future.

What are your monthly payments. To sum it up for you. Let me just tell you that you own a piece of history my friend. The car will go up in value if anything. I switched over to Japanesse cars from the over priced POS European cars. I was 20 when I bought my car. I paid over $1,000 a month and for what? The name only. People get so cought up into, ohhh how nice the Mercedes, Audi...etc look and ohhh man it gives you everything other then sex. Let me tell you something man. You have a jewel in your posesion don't sell it for nothing man. I have a 2004 EVO VIII and we use it as our family car. We also have a kid. EVO FOR LIFE.
If i could do it all over again i would have waited.. I love my car, but going to school full time, and working on the weekends is not that fun.. I don't have much of a social life for being in college but that was a decision i made... While my friends are out getting shat faced every night, i am saving my money for cams
I would've liked to drive my beater car for a full year, and put all that cash down on my car but i was impatient...
Best bet is to sell it and just chill on the cash you hopefully don't lose off of it, and just save it for a year or so... (i still contemplate it everyday, but now that i broke the first year barrier of having it.. i cant)

I say this, if you can not afford the car - sell it now. A car is not worth putting yourself in financial distress. There are many, many other cars out there that are great performers for way less cash than the EVO. Get yourself an old school LX 5.0 Stang or find a second gen Camaro (70-81) and build a wicked 383 stroker small block. The possibilities of owning a bad a#@ car for way less money than what the EVO cost is endless.
I am in a slightly different boat. I love the car but I want something different. The payments are not killing me but my heart is in a different place. I come from being around American muscle and I miss that scene alot. If someone offered me the right amount, I would sell my car right now and go pick up a car I have drooled over ever since I was a kid - a 1986 Buick Grand National. This place has a beautiful GN with 63,035 original miles for 19,995 that I would get in a heartbeat if I was to sell the EVO. Here is the car for anyone that's interested in looking:
