People get so cought up into, ohhh how nice the Mercedes, Audi...etc look and ohhh man it gives you everything other then sex. Let me tell you something man. You have a jewel in your posesion don't sell it for nothing man. I have a 2004 EVO VIII and we use it as our family car. We also have a kid. EVO FOR LIFE.
someone is way to attached to their car...it will not go up in value. This isn't the same as the muscle car era. In 30 years you won't see low mileage number matching all original Evo's going for a million bucks.

It's a wonderful car but you are not sitting on a good investment

and the track is the last place you need to put your car...the only thing worse than making payments on a car you can't afford is doing the same for a car that doesn't run

This would be why I went for the Evo8. They lack in a couple of areas, but not enough that I would notice it as a DD.

And my insurance+payment still equals out to being less than a Evo9 payment.

If you are on the edge financially with any car, that should be a good sign that you should sell the car and buy something much cheaper (e.g. used Honda or Toyota). Work hard and save, buy a house, get your investment plan in place, and then buy a toy or two. This practice will create a solid foundation for you for many years to come and should allow you to live a much more comfortable life (in the long run). Just my $0.02....

That said, most spend beyond their means, have little to no savings, and have to work their whole life. The choice is yours....good luck.

well this is the a BIG question, BEFORE you buy something.

Sell it or tade it in something cheaper. Because it's going to be worst, if you can't afford it.

I can feel your pain dude, but it is not uncommon. As many people have probably already stated the EVO can be an expensive car to own. I regret one of my friends decision to buy a EVO IX, especially since I was the one who helped talk him into getting one. His car payment and insurance approach $1,000 a month, and seriously if I had to pay that much for a EVO each month even I would regret it. If he would have talked to me before actually buying the car, I guarrantee I could have got him a much better deal, but sadly he did an impulsive buy without consulting me and I will hate to see the day when he will have to sell his EVO because he can't afford it. Maybe he can afford it, but he makes about the same income I do, and I know I would have a very hard time making ends meet if I was stuck with $1,000 worth of car payments a month.

for all the people who are buying evos brand new and can't afford it, STOP! the car will be around forever, don't let anyone scare you about buying used down the road cause youre gonna have to fix it sooner or later. the $1000 a month you are spending on the car now would vastly improve the quality of your life more than a car you can't afford. if you want it keep it. IMO, sell it, buy a beater or a nice performance car thats cheaper. there's alot of them out there. get the evo in the future, repair or replace the parts it needs. the money you save now could help in the future.
