Please Help (2)

oK guys It looks like the gc srt8 is just a fantasy time to get realistic. I am still looking at the 05 evo 8 mr with 13k on the clock, with the after market turbo w/ no warranty as an option. He states he will work an deal with me which is what I like! So i am getting an car with 13k on the clock aftermarket specs and prob a good deal. My question is I am test driving it today what should i look for in this vehicle so I know i am getting a good deal and not a P.O.S.

thanks for all your knowledge and help!!

chris

Very risky proposition on a heavily-modded used Evo being bought from a dealer. The owner probably dumped it on the dealer, and the dealer has no idea what all mods or done nor what problems it may have. He will sell it to you then be off the hook in terms of future problems. You may get lucky and just end up with a fast 05 MR, but that's highly doubtful. You should look for the same things we've told people to look at for years in the thousands of other threads asking this same question:

- Test for clutch slippage by hitting peak load, which is peak boost at peak torque in top gear
- Check brakes and brake pads
- Do a compression test on the cylinders
- Check the tires to make sure they're not crappy all seasons, and if they are performance tires, check the tread depth
- Be sure to get the FULL MOD LIST somehow, someway
- Ensure that it comes with all or most of the stock parts that were removed for mods

I was looking at a used STI before I bought my New Evo IX. I called Subaru warranty hotline and asked if the car had and warranty repairs and if the warranty had been voided. This is something you might want to do on the used Evo you are looking at.

Yes but i am going to look at this vehicle today and I am at work. I get probably 5 to 10 mins max spread out to look at this thread before I have to run back, so I would appreciate the help in ideas on what to look for to make sure i have a sound evo!

Things I might be weary about tell tale signs and sounds so on...

Warrtalon gave you some good info. Use it. And please don't rush with the purchase. After your test drive tell us what your thoughts are/concerns. Do a little background check on that evo and so on. Ofcourse you're going to love it, especially with after market turbo.

P.S What cars did you own previously?
