Evo 8 or srt-4 ?

Hey guys,

I am considering buying a 03-04 evo but my price range is 20k max. I mis having a fun car, since after having kids my mustang had to go. Only problem with the evo is that i cant seem to find one in my $ range with good milage, on average they have like 80-100k miles on the clock.

I could get an srt4 with no problem with good miles but wanted to see what you guys thought. Now i know im on an evo board here so alls i can do is ask that everyone please try your best not to say the evo just because you own one.

So what would you do,

Low mileage srt, or high mileage evo??

Thanks, alot

for 20k you should be able to find an evo 8 w/ around 40k miles, maybe even less.

Im in Southern California, and trust me i have searched and all the ones i can find seem to be overpriced. I have heard that location matters alot, and if anywhere were to be more money it would be here since we have summer like weather in the winter.

Thanks,

Yeh, i have been considering that lately. or maybe just putting the 20k or a little less on a low milage one and finance for a year or two with low payments. I actually dont mind the milage being high if the engine wont go out soon. Does anyone know the expected life span of these engines?

My EVO 8 has 48k miles on the clock and I would never sell it for $20k or below. Keep searching is all I can say. It's only going to get worse when the EVO X comes out and more VIIIs/IXs get totalled.

my first car was an srt-4. i thought it was the greatest thing ever. it had around 300 horsepower loud bov it was amazing. i decided to sale it and get an evo because ive wanted an evo since i was 16. im so happy with my decision i would never go back. my evo has 346whp its so much faster then my srt-4 and the handling is absolutely amazing. IMO the evo looks way better too. but its up to you good luck.

I have both, an 05 evo, and a 05 srt. The srt is for fun, the evo is business. But aside from the fact the evo 28-32 mpg, and the srt get 17-22 gas saving isnt with the srt.

Dont flame me about my post people, Im capable of tuning and working on these cars. My averages are gps based.

Anyways there great cars, more people will screw with you in the srt. Yes a stage 2 srt is a very fast car. And walked right by my car on the highway every time.

My girls car, I own it. These are not up to date.

my evo.

The SRT-4 is a cool car, but the Evo in my opinion is a much more capable machine. Evo FTW!!!!!!

My buddy has an SRT...If you're looking to get cheap speed and are on a budget, then I'd honestly say to get the SRT.
