boost problem
boost problem
hello, i have a 2004 evo se, and my problem is i am only making 12psi at full boost, i barely even spike to 13 in 5th, since i just bought the car i took it into the dealership and they told me "its the old generation motor and thats all it is supposed to make" but my understanding was the car is supposed to boost around 19, i have a catback exhaust and have already changed the stock boost controller.
what did you change the stock boost solinoid with? if you are still running the stock boost solenoid most likely the previouse owner had a manual boost controller on it and when he/she traded it in quickly turned it back to stock not using the correct vaccum lines. youll need to get the stock vaccume lines or get a manual boost controller. check your vaccum hoses that go from the compressor outlet and wastegate to the boost solonoid(should have white hash marks on them as well as red tips). This hose should have a small restrictor inside them that limits the amount of air through them. If this restrictor is removed you will not get more than 11-12psi.
edit: here is a pic of the stock vaccum lines. youll need to remove the intake box

thanks a lot for your help, i did replace it with another stocker i got for free but the car for sure does not have the stock lines, i have an 06mr that i am waiting to buy an interior for because the car did not have one when i bought it so i will just take the stock line off that and see if it makes a difference.
the lines are only 25 dollars or so from the dealer or you can order them from mitsubishiparts.net ($16.92 + shipping), the part # is MN143555
