high flow cat VS test pipe

So i have a high flow cat on my car, or at least i was told that by the owner before me. Its a 3inch TBE i was thinking about buying a test pipe though so i can just run a straight pipe.

Now would i benifit at all from this? and if so would i feel the difference?

Im not worried about sound so much and im in MI so theres no such thing as inspections.

let me know what you think i should do and where i can find a cheap pipe. I found some on ebay for 75 and i guess i dont see how they could mess it up as long as the flanges and leangh are the same.

Thanks for the help
Ian

I have the High Flow Cat plus a Test Pipe, here in Panama they dont make inspections, the sound its very deep sound in IDLE mode, and when you press the gas it just keeps louder but very deep..

regarding any difference, im not sure if you will feel any... just for changing to a test pipe

you may feel a slight difference without a tune, but with a tune a test pipe will get roughly 10-15 whp more.

also test pipes smells.

If you're daily driving it, keep the HFC. If you only track the car, get the TP.

Your right! You wont feel 10-15 hp on a 300whp becaust that's only 3-5% difference and it would take at least double that for the butt dyno to register but it will make the additional power and if your trying to achive 350whp every little bit counts, 5 here, 10 here, 5 more there, you get the idea.

Just do it.

I like the smell of gas around my car. Its a rally car, so make it smell like one,!

Its not bad inside the car, only place thats bad is behind the car when ur driving.

the smell can be bad when you are sitting at a light or in traffic with the windows down. i originally had a tp but after 2 months i swapped it out for a hfc

You can make plenty of power w/ a HFC, you don't need a test pipe.

the catalyc converter robbing power after they really heated up . Wich means when you are realy need the power : racing.
The test pipe will never do that.

so when you run on dyno and its 10 whp different /theoraticly speaking/,that will be more in the real life conditions. Only because the cat never gets heated up that high on the dyno, like in the racing enviroment. So there is the benefit for the test pipe wich will stay a same whp allways. Just because its doing its job: nothing.

You can space the O2 sensor out of the direct exhaust flow to get rid of the CEL. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...hlight=CEL+fix An added bonus for the test pipe is the occasional flame from the exhaust ...
