If you trying to gain the most horsepower just remove the whole intake box and run open air. Let us know how this works for you.

Seriously? Do you have to be such an ***? Everyone was a noob at some point. Lighten up.

If you search the forums, you will find a lot of answers. A lot of people like the HKS, though the filter element really blows and lets a lot of things thorough to your engine. When i was doing this research for myself, I found that the Apexi had very good documented gains, as well as great filtering characteristics.

Look into the OEM replacement panel filters. Perrin, HKS, Blitz, and K&N all make them. For cone style filters, a reasonable priced choice is the BR. I dont understand why people fight over different filters, they all let in air the same way. Just the fact that more restriction means better filteration...at least to my knowledge

The Injen intake is a great buy. It comes with the intake, Upper Intercooler Piping, and the Lower Intercooler Piping. I myself use the Injen intake and UICP. I bought the package early last year when it just came with the 2.

Steve,

I would not reccomend an intake as your first mod.

I would suggest the follow in this order:
  1. 3" Turbo back exhaust
  2. boost controler (i.e. manual boost controler)
  3. Boost gauge
  4. drop in filter or intake
  5. tune

Now ofcourse if you get the TBE, MBC, and boost gauge and you aren't going to get an intake for awhile then get a tune after those parts.
