Beginners Read Me: New To Your Evo Or Looking For An Evo?
All Evos are manufactured in Japan. Mitsubishi make them in different specifications to suit the market that they are being sold into.
I'm going to have to disagree about this statement. A lambda sensor/gauge combo is a hair shy of $300, first of all, and the information it gives really isn't all that useful unless you're a capable tuner. If you're talking about it being useful for "at-a-glance" reading, the only time it's actually useful (provided you have a way of reading it while driving) is in open-loop. Even then, you need some way of taking action on the feedback of the sensor, or it's basically just an expensive way to tell that your expensive sensor is working.
Speaking from experience, if you're tuning your car, a wideband is 100% neccessary. It'd be like trying to thread a needle in the dark without one.

That is what I meant. I apologize for not clarifying.. Its needed for tuning..
good info..
This was very helpful info.I'm looking at an evo 9 clean low milage.just doing a lil more research first but the 8 is nice to and a lil cheaper. I know all the pros just looking for the cons the things that are **** to go wrong...is this car pretty$$$ to maintain as a dd
definitely more $$ to maintain compared to a civic, 240sx, etc. but small price to pay. dont cheap out on maintenance when you buy a $15k+ car.
I would have gone with a IX if I had to do it over again. But I do love my VIII.
