If all you are doing is turning up your boost without any additional add-ons then you won't need a Walbro.

In the most basic sense ... more airflow = more fuel to keep a desired AFR.

With the stock turbo, you will not get close to maxing out your IDCs until you start running ~20 psi at 7200 RPM or so. This of course relies on your tune as well ... with a stock tune you'll likely see very high IDC% with lower boost since it runs so rich up top.

All very good advice.

I would only add that the stock IX fuel pump is much better than the stock VIII pumps.

If it helps, I hit around 94% IDC% in my stock turbo IX at around 7300 RPM and 19 psi @ 11.1 or so AFR. Thats a little in to the danger zone as you generally want to stay under 85% or so IDC%.

I'm looking to upgrade the pump and FPR soon. I'll be doing injectors and rail as well in the future for added safety on race fuel.

I agree with Dead-Man. Def get a tune, so you don't have to worry.

I got no issues running 22-24 boost with stock pump. its a waste of money unless you upgrade your tubo or increase boost to 26+ with a meth kit.

the evo ix fuel pump is much better than the viii's. If you up the boost you will still get enough fuel to make every adjustment better it would be wise to get a tune to get the most out of raising the boost.

TUNE IT AND GET A WALBRO SOONER THAN LATER IF YOU PLAN TO KEEP MODDING........keep your duty cycle around 85% if you can. thats why we get the walbros........
