I had a 76 Mustang II Mach 1, 1985 Mustang GT, 1988 Mustang GT and 1998 Mustang GT. My Evo is not the most plush of any of those cars, but it is clearly the most fun to drive, and also the quickest.

I also found my 98 GT was really bad in the snow when I moved to CT. The Evo (especially with a good pair of snowtires) is outstanding in the snow.

Go for the Evo, you won't be disappointed.

Evo X is wonderful and all, but the aftermarket support and the pureness of an Evo 8-9 would be better so much better, Just my opinion though. Good luck on your purchase.

First your thread is in actuality a "pointless" one in this forum. Not meaning to sound like an a$$, I say that because I dont see anyone telling you to NOT get one on an EVO forum especially coming from a Mustang.

Having said that I've been where you are at. I had a Mustang before I went with my first EVO. It's night and day as far as the two cars. I suggest you make two lists, one for the stang, and one for the EVO and break it down by pro's and cons. Be truthful with yourself and you will have the answer you need.

Sounds like you've already made up your mind, but if you choose the EVO you will have lots of fun.

Do you have kids? If they are in a child seat, the X would be much better than an VIII or IX. One already posted that the X fit the child seat much better.

Evo' s are can be fun for as practical and versatile as they are, but my guess it will feel straight line slow after the mustang. Get a IX... faster and easier to make much faster.

a local guy went from an evo8 to a 500+ whp 03 cobra and back to an evo9 mr...if the cobra is stock i think i'd go to an evo9, if it is modded and making pretty good power, i'd stick with the cobra.

I have a 2000 Mustang as well. It sucks in the winter period. I also have an EVO VIII and when I drive my mustang I can't wait to get out of it so I can drive my Evo. Two different cars altogether. Don't get me wrong, I like Mustangs as well, I just enjoy cars period and I'm also on a mustang forum but what type of information are you trying to get? For autoxing, the Evo VIII or IX is a fun car. I'm sure others that have more experience can share their input. The X has so much potential I just don't know enough about it.

Last but not least, go through this forum, there's tons of info here, you will need to block off at 3-4 hrs to do so.

BTW- I'm glad I'm not the only one here in his late 30's
