Before I bought my 03 evo I owned a pullied 03 Cobra... don't regret the move at all. The Cobra, while a great car in many aspects, simply isn't a practical car. I couldn't even drive mine in the rain w/out worrying about the back end kicking out on me and wouldn't dare back it out of the garage in snow lol I think you'll enjoy your AWD time. It's a nice change. I will be moving to a X in a couple of weeks when the sale of my 8 is finalized. Welcome to the forums!

One poster said my question was pointless and shouldn't be on here because it's an Evo forum. Well, that's exactly why I posted it here. I've had a mustang for the past 5 years. I know all about them. I wanted to hear from Evo owners to get an idea of what I was getting myself into. I understand most posters are going to say the Evo's are great and better than the mustang in many way's. I guess the question was really a rhetorical one, I was just trying to introduce myself, and get some type of comfort from other Evo owners that I am doing the right thing. Also, if you didn't like my post, why are you replying to it. To me it was not a pointless post and I appreciate the input I have received. I don't want to seem like an a@#, either, but give me a break. It was my first post and I get slammed---WELCOME TO THE FORUMS Chris Sorry, maybe I'm just in a bad mood today.

Now that I have gotten that off of my chest, I do not have any kids, so don't have to worry about that.

Can't wait to start modding it. On another thread, I saw the video of a great sounding exhaust. The company works with the dealership I am getting the car from and that will be one of the first mods I do. It will be interesting to see how I can mod this car. The mustang had SO MUCH that was available. I did a few things, like basani cat backs, aftermarket shifter, K& N filter, and some appearance stuff.
Also, since modding is something you're looking into, here's a crash course in Evo modding:

AMS - amsperformance.com
Buschur - buschurracing.com
Robispec - (suspension) pm him on here or robispec.com
Rexpeed - (exterior) rexpeed.net
Evodave - (lighting extraordinare lol) pm him on here
ETS - (performance parts) extremeturbosystems.com

That should get you started. Sorry to any vendors I left out, just a quick list off the top of my head. Others feel free to add to the list

I had an 04 cobra with 545 rwhp before i got my evo. I was just getting bored with the cobra and made a few thousand on the deal. I wouldnt trade back either.

Was busy, sorry for the late post. The car is great!!! It seems to have as much pick-up as the cobra at highway speed. Since it only had 8 miles, I really didn't get on it, but I am feeling pretty good about the trade in. The dealer said they are working with AMS that will bring it to 400 hp with just bolt on's We will see what I do with mods. Very comfortable to drive, no concern with the shifting from 1st to 2nd, as others have talked about on other post. The good thing is the trunk will fit at least 1 set of golf clubs, which I was worried about after reading other posts. I will post pics of both cars Sunday or Monday, when I get back home.

A side note: when my father-in-law saw the car he said "this is a show stopper". Two guy's in a mustang saw me on the higway leaving the dealership and they were taking pics of the car, while driving. Pretty cool!!!

Glad to be on the dark side, so far.

I think you made a good choice. You're really going to appreciate the AWD aspect of the vehicle over the RWD.

I've been thinking about buying a IX for months but the X is really growing on me. I really like the new upscale look of the new one.. but also like the classic style as well. Decisions decisions.

I can share a similar experience. I wanted to try something different than what I was used to. I went from a 500rwhp LS1 SS Camaro to an Evo 8 and I can honestly say I do not regret it at all. I love these Evolution cars.

As my friends say... I didn't just jump the fence...I tore it down in the process.
Such different cars.

Enjoy your X!

Well, I get to test the AWD this morning I wake up and we have about 2 inches of snow on the ground. Yesterday I would not have been able to drive anywhere, with the cobra. Today, I can't wait to get on the road and see what this thing is all about. Will post results later.

Also, dbotkin5, thanks for the info!!

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing... Summer tires (not sure what the stockers are), even on an AWD car, are not going to work very well in the snow.

They may even give a false sense of safety can cause you to lose control because you did something you shouldn't have done without snow tires.

Yikes!

Instead of the 2 rear tires slipping & sliding, you'll have all 4

During the summer, look for tirerack to be selling snow tires cheap

Congrats - and welcome
