I got mine from an 05 s2k, I used a black washer the diameter of the antenna base to make it flush. Looks perfect now.

I've always prefered the Element antenna vs the S2K antenna. It sits flush

I have the element one and needed a washer to get it flush.

I have an s2000 antenna and used a black rubber washer from ace hardware and now it looks perfect. I think it cost me 0.15 cents, I broke the bank...

I have the s2000 antenna, I had to grind off about an 1/8" at the thread and it fits perfect now with the VG

I have lost reception strength to 1 of my radio presets but the other 5 still work just fine. So yeah, there is going to be some sort of decrease in signal strength.

I had no loss in signal, but I guess thats possible when changing from that 9 foot long stock one. The s2k and element both need a washer or slight cutting of the stud. I would get the washer. Mabye pull it back off and clean out the inside with isopropyl alcohol or electrical contact cleaner. That may help your reception.
