What are the right cams for me

I have a 03 evo with TBE.apexi intake, and stock turbo. I was planning on getting cams in the next couple of months. I know that you dont have to upgrade the springs and retainers with the hks 272's and the 280's. Which of those 2 would I make the most power with, I should also add that im planning on tunning my car with e85 and getting a 9 turbo.

Depends if you're going to daily drive it. 264s are what most people need and will like. 274s need to be tuned to run smooth or get them close to stock, they'll run a little lumpy. 280s of course will be for ultimate power and race only, and the lease streetable for the daily driver. 280s need a standalone ecu or an expert ecu flasher to tune it right. It you're going for the street/race weekend warrior car then get a 264 intake 272 exhaust cam. Hope this helps,

Hmm I know of a couple people with hks 280's that drive daily. I was just wondering which would give me the most power with my plans for the future setup, I wouldnt put them in till I get all the other parts for the tune!! I know that with cams, the idle will be lumpy, that doesnt bother me, it sounds good.

you will get the most power with the 280 intake and exhaust. If you want to keep your heads in good shape, I would do springs and retainers. Other than that and a good tune, you are set to go. Good luck.

I saw a 70WHP increase going from HKS 272s to Tomei 280s. Just do the springs and retainers and go BIG. IMO I prefer the lumpy idle it reminds me that I have a quick car.

i couldnt imagine driving on 280's as a DD but i guess some people like it, i threw 264's in my car and it idles stock very easy to drive with but when u get into like 5k rpm+ they make the car sound very vicious compared to the stockers

I would think 280 or larger would be a bit much for a DD, and require an upgraded valvetrain. M2's are aggressive enough with minimal lope.
