...in a roundabout way though. Torque = HP/RPM t=HP divided by RPM or

T x RPM= HP same thing

Not if your ignition timing is already optimal. Boost is a bigger maker of torque than timing. More air = more tq. Sure you can optimally ignite what ever mixture you've got but if your not moving air your not making power.

A turbo essentially add's displacement (air moving capability) to an engine.

The alcohol and meth just allow more boost to be run before detonation occurs with knock limited fuels. More boost = more airflow = more tq. Same thing with a bigger turbo, your just moving more air, essentially increasing displacement.

u can only adjust soo much timing. bottom line if u aint running enough boost u wont see the tq increase to where u want it. bump up the boost a lil

I have heard this as well, from a reliable source!

I kinda find it a little annoying when people refer to what happens in the low end as 'torque' and what happens at the high end as 'power' when you have both just as long as the engine is turning.

Let's keep in mind the OP made 340/310 and his question is probably revolving around why his tq numbers are so low in comparison to his whp numbers. For example, if he wanted to make 340/340 with the mods he has it will require a different tuning strategy that involves more boost and probably less timing if his timing is currently optimal for his boost level.

? for the OP, was the car dyno'd in 3rd or 4th gear?

think of it like this, hp is how much power to move an object in amount of time., ft/lbs per minute. so you can have Hulk Hogan and pee wee herman move a big stone block in the same amount of time then they both have the same HP.
But the Hulkster has way more mucle and applies way more power when first starting to move the block but obviously he didn't use full power throughout the push. So just increase the boost man to accelerate quicker and giving you more torque.

if you mod your car basically your decreasing the friction that the block has with the surface, so with hulk hogan appliing same "muscle power" torque that block will move faster i.e increase in hp because the stone was able to move the same distance in less time, but no extra "muscle was needed" so to increase the torque or muscle of hulk hogan, INCREASE BOOST
