Another Noob! Evo 8 Cam Question too!

Hey guys I have lurked around this site for a while and I just wanted to say hi!. Also, I have bought a few things already on here and my nex thing to grab is some cams. Just curious if you guys thought it is better to go with some Brian Crower 272's new or HKS 272's used? Also is it necessary to do spring and retainers? If not could I do any harm with out upgrading? Thanks!

Do not go with HKS. So some research first. And you will understand why not to go with the HKS.

Thats the best you can do is tell me to do some research? .. At least give me a bad experience or tell me something to compare it too. I dont want to upgrade springs and retainers so I have seen where people recommend the HKS for that reason.

I would take this test with a grain of salt you know after all what they are testing it on is not even close to a stock car. It has a ported race head, gt35r, and built bottom end. So this car is going to like to see cams which follow in line with the gt35r's effective range being around 4k+ rpms.

Also as a mention here about half the cams i see in there require springs, gsc s2/s3, tomei 280's hydro/solid. Not to mention with a ported race head the extreme lifts of a tomei cam really come into play where they wouldn't be making as much of a difference with a stock head.

Not that this test is completely useless to us DD people they still have the BC cams and the HKS 272's in there along with some forced performance cams .
