Question The Ultimate Clutch for Me???

***Hi everyone...I recently found out that it's time to buy a new clutch for my Evo IX MR. I have heard that the ACT Street is one of the most popular ones and I've heard that Exedy is one of the most expensive ones. But I know I should get the one that suits me the best. Price is not the #1 issue for me, but I don't want to spend more than I really need to. My driving style is somewhat aggressive alot of times and I do launch the car often. The stock clutch that I have had, has this burning smell after I launch the car every time...And I could smell the burning most when I pulled into my garage and turned the ignition off. I really don't want to keep replacing my clutch in the future. A durable, quality clutch with very good performance would be awesome. I request everyone's advice on their experience on what clutch I should buy. ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. Thanks everybody...

i wanted a ACT clutch and flywheel cause it was like 700 bucks for the hole thing, and everyone told me that with the mods i have it will be well worth the 1500 or 1600 for a exedy twin clutch and flywheel but i might end up trying the act one cause im not a big 1400 on clutch guy and i dont launch my car at very high rpms. so yeah alot of people will prolly say the exedy twin cause of launching n stuff

Yeah, I see the combo package that includes the ACT Street Disc Clutch and the Streelight Flywheel and it seems like a good deal at $767.95+shipping at lancershop.com. There's the option for getting the Prolite flywheel which is 3 lbs. lighter, which is like an added $50 on top of the package. Do you think I'll appreciate what ACT has to offer? The Exedy does have a very intimidating price indeed.

my ACT XDSS is GREAT! zero complaints. I wouldnt listen to anyone that mentions anything about lock out cause i honestly think its installers error. Every ACT owner that i know got them installed by reputable places having nothing but perfect luck.

Doesn't gruppe-s sell a act/flywheel combo for like 100bucks less than that?

If my clutch is gonna go out I probably will use the act combo myself its cheap and i DD my beast so not truely interested in the uber clutch setup right now

I'll check the price at "gruppe-s". I don't know why, but I love ordering from lancershop. They are very impressive in their service and their SUPER-FAST shipping! I've gotten used to lancershop and the products that they offer...plus I really think the website is very user-friendly. Most places are more expensive, but I'll still search and make sure since $700-$800 is no small amount. Thanks for the pointer my friend.

Smile Thank You

Actually....You're right "ROADSPIKE". Gruppe-s does sell it for about a $100 less than lancershop. The price is $675 at Gruppe-s compared to $767 at lancershop. I just hope that it's the same exact combo package...Does anyone know if the gruppe-s package is the same as lancershop's? If it is, I'll order from Gruppe-S. Thank you very much "RoadSpike"!

Unhappy wait a second...

I just got through comparing both packages on both websites and the "gruppe-s" ACT clutch combo pack doesn't mention anything about including a steetlite flywheel like lancershop does. I'll have to contact Gruppe-s on this confusion. I don't think they include the flywheel....so I may just order the ACT combo pack from lancershop after all. I'll make sure and I'll sort the confusion first though. Thanks.

Talking Finally made up my mind.

Looks like I've made up my mind. I'm going to order the "ACT EVO Street Disc Clutch Kit + ACT Streelight Flywheel COMBO" from lancershop. I spoke to my tuner and I picked up some confidence on which clutch was right for me. I'm on a budget now days and I can't afford to spend much more on mods right now. Therefore, I heard that ACT is a very good clutch maker and it's affordable compared to other clutches. Plus it's a very strong performance clutch compared to my worn out stock clutch. My tuner offered me the option to resurface the stock flywheel for $50 instead of spending about $300 on a brand new one, but I will order a new flywheel so I don't have the risk to worry more in the future. I'm going to order my combo clutch package from lancershop at the cost of $767.95+shipping. I've had very positive experiences from lancershop and I'll order once again from them. If I have any changes in my plans, I'll let everybody know.....But for right now, I've made up my mind. Thanks for the help everyone!

No they don't come with the act flywheel gruppe-s IIRC makes their own lightweight flywheel.

Yeah...It didn't look as though the Gruppe-S package included the streetlite flywheel. By the way, does anyone think that I should just get my flywheel resurfaced for $50 and buy the clutch kit for $500, or should a get the combo package that includes a brand new flywheel for a price of $767.95?
