hi, this is my first post... last sunday night i totaled my srt, ... now i am looking for a evo.... my srt has 480 whps and 530 lbft... i want do some thing like that with my evo.... but i have a questions...

have a lot diference viii and ix??? i like th evo Viii.... i can get the same results with the VIII??? and i like the drag race... i think te 5 speed is better for me right???

i see exist 03,04 and 05 evo VIII, and i read the 05 is best.... what do you think??

and what car have the stronger tranny, axles. etc, etc....

sorry for my questions.... but i need get the evo asap... i have alot experience tuning srts but i am new with the evos....

I saw the reviews on Cars.com and edmunds...both say the 05 VIII was the best...I dunno if you want to go with just those 2 sources or verify the data with folks here but I'd be curious to know as well...

OP, how come you don't consider an EVO IX MR like me? That one was supposed to be the best out of all of them

 

If you're building you might as well go with an 03 due to swaping out everything anyway and not utilizing mivec (ix) on aftermarket turbo.

MR is 6 speeds.... i think is better 5 speeds for a drag.... and if viii and ix its the same thing, viii is more sheaper.... and i have the oportunity of get a local viii ....

get the IX SE

 

evo 9 5 speed would be the best buy, but a cheaper 05 5 speed is just as good

 

If you're going for a complete build up, then I believe an Evo 8 GSR would do ya fine. If I knew more about the evo transmission when I was looking to purchase mine, I would've ended up with an 8 GSR as well.

 

5 speed is better than the 6 speed and is the same tranny through 03-06

 

normal driving your fine with a six. but big horse you'll need a 5 speed its stronger. Autox you'll need a strong 6 speed is the way to go.

I am selling my 05. Its a car modded correctly for what you need. All you would need is a turbo kit inj. and a tune for 500 horse. Plus I only have 11k on it. Pm me if interested. Do you have any srt parts left. I have an 05

 

all 5 speeds are pretty strong but I think the IX tranny has shorter gears.

 

The 03-05 5 speeds have a longer 3rd and 4th and I know. Possible longer 2nd gear also. The 06 IX has a taller 1st gear though.

 

Maybe looking to sell my evo 9 mr se the car is flawless drive it maybe once every 2 week's the car is like brand new let me know if your intersted seen rain three time's.
