Wanting to buy an EVO9
Wanting to buy an EVO9
Okay so i've been planning and thinking a lot about this car, and basically i'm still in love with the car.
But i don't have the money to buy a new one (if there's any new ones left that is) so i'd have to buy a used one. The used ones are pretty cheap, i'm guessing the resale value isn't so great.
But my concerns are:
1) how much exactly is insurance? (i'm 19)
2) what would i have to check as far as repairs?
3) and what would be the average life span of the evo assuming the previous owner drove like most would?
4) where would be a good place to find a decent priced (under 20k would be ideal) evo? there are no evos around my town, so can't go local, and the only sites i know is cars.com and autotrader.com

1. If your 19 expect insurance to be a min of around $2-3k per year
2. Make sure it is stock or very lightly modded.
3. 100k miles plus
4. Look at the for sale section on here but good luck finding a EVO 9 for under $20k that is clean with average miles.

a 9 is going to be more than an 8 due to the mivec. are you planning on modding the car? i went with the 8 simply because of the price difference and once you mod it its not a huge concern anyway. im 21 and my insurance is between 2-3k a yr. found mine on autotrader too. good luck

If you're planning to lightly mod, then go for the IX. IX's respond well to basic bolt-ons because of the MIVEC. If you're planning to build the car, go for the VIII because they're cheaper. Insurance for your age is complete rape by the way, I know because I was 20 when I got my Evo. As far a life expectancy, its all about how you take care of your car. Keep up with the maintenance, and you should be good. A couple Evos have already hit 100k+ miles and they're still running strong. I think there is an evo on this forum that has hit almost 150k miles and had no major issues. Its all about how well you maintain your car.
ive been looking at getting an evo for a couple of months now. i couldnt find much listing in the north west zone ( easier for me cause im in canada ) but from my research u can find an evo8 for that pricing.
im selling my excellent condition evo, but i am in nj and u would pay shipping fees

I would if i were to buy one soon, but i have to wait a couple months. but man. i would love to adopt it, haha.
so is MIVEC an ECU mod? or is it the whole engine tech?
i read that mivec helps with better torque even while low and mid rpms. would that make a huge difference with overall acceleration? supposing i do a med. build on an 8
