FP Red Vs. GTR???
FP Red Vs. GTR???
So I've been seeing that quite a few Red owners are putting down some serious numbers even on pump gas (400+ WHP) and got to thinking... how would a stock block 8 or 9 with a Red and mostly all supporting bolt ons do against a stock GTR? Being that the Evo is a much lighter car, how would it hold up against a GTR and all its electronic trickery? Drag race? Around a track? Pump gas or race gas? Thoughts?
Now lets say the Evo had an upgraded supsension to harness the added power... what do you guys think?

Evo+Red+supporting mods $45,000 (brand new Evo, and brand new mods). GTR $80,000 + (correct me if I am wrong.) Evo > GTR. I say this even though I love the new GTR. And yes I know $45,000 dollars for an Evo and some supporting mods would make one bad Evo!!!!
but u cant take away from the luxury of the GTR vs Evo....plus it has the power to do 200mph....it quite...comfertable. looks good.....but as far as performance goes...you could buy an Aerial Atom but its still not as nice as a GTR...

3 GTRs were at the local drag strip this past weekend. The fastest ran a 12.2. It doesn't take much to get an Evo past that point ... basic bolt-ons really. Now, on a road course it's a completely different story, but there's a little more driver involved there too.
will void your warranty with a drop in filter...lol. Anyways, keep the responses coming, this is interesting.I know the chances now are slim to none at this point, but have any of you Red guys had the privilege to run into any unsuspecting GTR's?
I see it this way:
Evolution would be a great daily driver, especially if you had a family, it being a four door and all. On the track you could toast people.
GTR would be great if you had the money. I've seen this car compete on the track before (this last summer at the Redline Time Attack at California (now AutoClub) Speedway, and it did pretty decent. My only bugger about this car is its Soviet-like computer controls that limit the car to 112MPH and ONLY Nissan can unlock it.
All in a all its just about what you're personal taste is.
And personally, i'd have both
But if i had to make a choice....Evo ftw.
Forgot to add one bit, but also the fact that the tranny and the engine are mated to each other (no other GTR transmission will work with specific GTR engine) is NOT practical. I can see toasting a tranny and being like #$&@, I need a new engine AND transmission.
the speed limiter is only in Japan cause of there law and is set by GPS, so if you goto a track it turns off the speed limiter. in the US there is no speed limiter......make sure you post correct information.
The evo has that raw-ness you find in true sports cars. I cant speak for the new GTR, bc i don't own one nor have I driven one. The old Skylines seem to have it, its that X factor in a car. The evo is one of my fav car bc of the raw-ness and its easy ability to control, 1-2 gear on the street is un-like any other car IMO (I've drive/ been in many fast cars). The fp red seems to really be making crazy numbers... i'd love to see them go at it.
