Thinking of getting an EVO X - 2 or 3 quick questions...
I'm looking at getting a EVO X MR or an 09 Ralliart so this is particularly for the EVO MR owners or owners of the SST trans...
Did you then or do you now regret not having a 5 speed?
What do you like most about the SST? What do you like least?
What about the car itself what's its best point and worst point?
What options does your car have?
For EVO X GSR owners (since I know a few will look), do you ever wish you opted for the MR?
I'd also like opinions from owners of the MR/SST who have owned the cars for a while to tell me if they have noticed any real shortcomings that someone wouldn't have noticed on the test drive.
Thanks guys

No
What do you like most about the SST? What do you like least?
Can put it 'normal' auto mode and roll with a cup of coffee relaxed. Gear selections in sport mode are spot on for mountain driving. Dislike's are: I would like a firmer shift in normal mode at times. Currently modifcations in terms of power are limited
compared to the gsr. If want to mod without limits you need a gsr. If you want the latest cool tech in terms transmissions and like your coffee on the morning drive you need an mr.
What about the car itself what's its best point and worst point?
Handles great. Cheap paint.
What options does your car have?
Loaded.
I'd also like opinions from owners of the MR/SST who have owned the cars for a while to tell me if they have noticed any real shortcomings that someone wouldn't have noticed on the test drive.
Cheap paint, mine is phantom black, I knew it would show everything when it was dirty but jeez, clear coat scratches easy, make sure and really wax up it well.
I had issues with the seat making my hip (old running injury) hurt if driving for
@ 1 hour. Fits like a glove now though no issues. Drivers seat needs more adjustability. Wide door sills scratch easy if your have kids getting in and out.
Weird mant interval reminder settings - can't set it for 3000 miles. Low fuel warning pops on a bit early.
Ralliart and MR are two different cars entirely, Ralliart has less hp, no s-sport trans mode, all the suspension is made of steel, etc, etc.
Really no issues.

What do you like most about the SST?
Versatility & I often need to brace items in the passenger seat w/my free hand, which is much easier to do in "auto"
What do you like least?
Semi-slow starts from complete stops, which I think is going away over time (unless I just got use to it). Also, having to wait those couple seconds after starting the car, before selecting "Drive" or "Reverse".
What about the car itself what's its best point and worst point?
Best = Transmission, handling, looks
Worst = Wheel gap, thin paint
What options does your car have?
Base model MR *edit*: I have the Interior Sport Package & that's it
any real shortcomings that someone wouldn't have noticed on the test drive
Same as what I like least about the SST.

The girlfriend not *****ing about not being able to drive my car.
What do you like least?
The girlfriend being able to drive my car. That feeling of being part of the car while driving that you onlt get by having a true manual tranny.
What about the car itself what's its best point and worst point?
Best = Wheels, Interior
Worst = Wheel gap, thin paint, no sunroof, trunk space
What options does your car have?
MMCS, Aero Kit (waste of money)

No, all my previous cars have been a manual, I was ready for a "dual clutch"
What do you like most about the SST?
The quick shifts when in Super Sport Mode
What do you like least?
The slight hesitation before a hard launch, horsepower capabilities b/c of tranny
What about the car itself what's its best point and worst point?
Best = brakes, tranny, interior
Worst = expensive, cheap paint, pretty much have to get a tune right away cause of the piggy rich factory settings
What options does your car have?
Technology Package (navigation and rockford sound system), no aero or interior sports package
Any real shortcomings that someone wouldn't have noticed on the test drive
No not really

Did you then or do you now regret not having a 5 speed?
Yes...because I want to add a turbo kit for some serious power.
What do you like most about the SST?
It is a phenom, and having tracked / raced for 15 years, I can't get over how well it shifts in sport. I had it in the mountains, and I was getting four off in transitions, and it always selecteed the right gear ... always.
What do you like least?
Semi-slow starts from complete stops, which I think is going away over time (unless I just got use to it). Also, having to wait those couple seconds after starting the car, before selecting "Drive" or "Reverse". (same ..)
What about the car itself what's its best point and worst point?
Best = Transmission, handling, looks
Worst = missing the manual experience of driving, when you want to feel 'sporty'. The tranny is good, but there is something about rowing through the gears. I typically get in the Mustang now, when I want to row through the box, but the Evo to corner carve.

At first I did from a mod standpoint but then realized with time we should be able to modify the tranny too. Had a 5 speed for 10 years, I was ready to move on but not to an automatic.
What do you like most about the SST?
Ability to use it manual mode but also to switch back to automatic for those long trips such as my commute to work.
What do you like least?
Can't launch from a standstill like I want to and the horsepower limit(for now)
What about the car itself what's its best point and worst point?
Worst: Gas mileage kinda sucks atm though a tune ought to help that, expensive for what you get, smallish trunk, and the paint
Best: Navigation system, interior, looks ,wheels, and handling
What options does your car have? Loaded + lower front lip and color matched engine bay brace

What do you like most about the SST?
It's my dd so not shifting in traffic is great. Plus it shifts smooth.
What do you like least?
Slow starts from complete stops (but I don't launch it)
What about the car itself what's its best point and worst point?
Best thing is the handling Worst is def the paint.
What options does your car have?
Everything
any real shortcomings that someone wouldn't have noticed on the test drive
Nope not really. Once the clutch pack can be upgraded then I will be 98% satisfied.

Not at all, it's a blessing every time traffic hits.
What do you like most about the SST?
Being able to fully concentrate on drive lines and braking at the track. being able to be lazy when i want to be. ie: morning drive, traffic, long trips. but at the same time being able to drive the hell out of it if and when i choose.
What do you like least?
Not being able to pretend i'm vin diesel in the fast and the furious, lol
What about the car itself what's its best point and worst point?
Best thing, handling, and pulling up next to a civic with a fart can. Worst, the paint.
What options does your car have?
loaded
any real shortcomings that someone wouldn't have noticed on the test drive
trunk space, bad tires (depending on where you live) Ohio=buying new set of tires.

i was going to post a thread very similar to this tonight. i am tugged between the mr and gsr, but i have additional questions...
when slowing in manual mode to a stoplight, does it act like a auto when decreasing speed? in my 6spd i put it in manual when slowing, but in manual mode, does it drop gear by gear?
also, when people talk about tunes, can you tune the mr the same, like with the cobb accessport? im wondering because in reviews people say they notice a difference in performance when in s-sport mode almost like the ecu has different maps for each setting, pr are the normal, sport, and super sports strictly tranny settings?
last but not least, the mr is undoubtedly slower from all test, like a good .5 sec from 0-60 or so. my question is is for those who have driven both, does the mr feel any slower? thanks!!!
