Royal Purple is junk; its fine at first but the additive package wears out very quickly. Mobil 1, Castrol Syntec, Redline, and Amsoil are all good. I've personally stuck with M1 since its the factory fill and all the car has ever seen.

amsoil is probably good but mobile 1 is used by most Evo owners with no problems. I've only heard of problems when people change from mobile1

A midget with one arm is capable of changing the oil.

Save you're self $85.00 next time and do it you're self.

Its really easy. It takes less than 10 min if you get used to it. but I take my time and wait for every drop of oil to drain.
Sometimes auto part stores have Buy one get one free or Buy one get one 50% on engine oil.
Also you get 5%-15% military discount =D

Stack it up in your garage(or barracks) and you'll be paying less than $20 to change your oil
I use mobile 1 and sometimes other brand(when they are on B1G1) and always use factory oil filter.
BTW transmission fluid change is same thing as changing oil. Another DIY for poorman like me.

Walmart is the cheapest place for mobile 1. I once spent 60 bucks on a oil change when I was 16 on my civic si and ever since then I have always done it my self.

Honestly I dont think I have ever paid for an oil change in my life.

M1 for $23 bucks $6 for the OEM filter, the parts manager gave me a bag of crush washers for free. 15 minutes plus drainage time(plus I run a half quart of fresh m1 to grab anything else).

Just wear gloves and use a baggie for the filter, use quick hands and youre good.

I took my first evo (2004 VIII) to the dealer for my very first oil change. I was shocked at the $80.00 price. That was the last time I've had them do it.
