If you use M1, use the Extended Performance AKA original formula M1. New M1 is whack like New Coke

Does the new filter come with a crush washer, or do you swap over the one from the used filter? Assuming, you don't have any extras from the dealer. Need to start doing my own, too.

AutoZone, Checkers, etc all take used oil here. So you just have to take it to one of their stores. Or take it to a high school that has an auto mechanics class, they usually have their own disposal system.

Welcome to the world of synthetic oil though, that's what you paid a lot for, your SI probably didn't run synthetic.

As S2 says... RP shears out of grade quite quickly... AMSOIL and Mobil 1 EP.. Only the EP... The other Mobil 1's are not PAO based Synthetics

Most local Auto Parts stores have a dump tank and so do the Super Wal-Marts... It is a free service..

I Rarely replace a crush washer on anything I own. If not over torqued, they will last for years... About the only one I change is my Bike as it is a rubber O-Ring.

I keep seeng M-1 at Wally World for $23.00.... I haven't looked as I won't shop at Wal-Mart, but that cannot be the M-1 Extended Performance... Rainy day here, I may go there and take a look.

Remember, Mobil 1 is a company, not a product.... EP is Synthetic based, others are Hydro-Cracked.

I know for a fact that it is likely the Mobil 1 10W30 synthetic with the solid green lid. They may have EP, but I never bought EP from them, I bought plenty of the above mentioned stuff from them though, 23 dollars after tax for 5 qts

How are you guys getting M1 for $23 at WalMart? I just bought it about three weeks ago and noticed that it has gone up to $26.

too bad you guys don't have the same deal as we do in SoCal. Our dealership offers free oil changes for the life of the car. We get free oil filters but only thing is that we can only get it for free for every 3500 miles.

And that is the Hydro-Cracked.... I was curious so I just went to Wally World... $26.00 for the Hydro-Cracked.. $28.50 for the Extended Performance which is still only about 30% PAO

Now to keep things relative, the following AMSOIL prices will include the freight so there are no surprises..

Probably the closest to Mobil 1 would be AMSOIL XLT 10W-30 $31.00 per gallon

AMSOIL ATM 10W-30 which is 100% Synthetic $36.25 per gallon

4 Qts of Dominator RD-20 or RD-30 $43.30

If you want the Ultimate in Performance and Protection I highly recommend he RD-20 oil

Seriously, thanks guys. I had no idea that these places took used oil. I may go ahead and start changing my own oil too.
