evo mods
so, i am a new 2005 evo owner. I came from a corvette and wanted to know when you the typical intake, exhaust, fuel pump, tune mods, how does it affect the cars power? Does it make the car boost sooner? boost longer? Just curious to how this changes the car? I would love to have the car make the power quicker and boost sooner but dont see too much mention of that in the posts, most people talk about just making more power not where the power is made.
thanks

All in all, it will depend on the tuner. An exhaust, dp, and o2 housing will definitely help the turbo flow better and build boost a little faster. I recommend the ETS LICP v2. A good tune will help you increase alot of mid range power...3000 to 6000 range. Although you'll experience gain up top, the boost in the Evos taper there.

exhaling mods are more important in the beginning. Full exhaust including the O2 housing along with a ported exhaust manifold will help. But you are on the right track with those mods you've listed. Next is the intercooler and cams. Make sure you choose a reputable tuner. Welcome aboard.
You know what they say, "there is no replacement for displacement".
Compared to muscle cars, Evos are more of a rally/roadrace car, not truly meant for quarter mile racing. It would defeat the purpose of an Evo to have a 4.7L turbo
in terms of power to weight ratio.
Anyway, getting back to your question, lighter flywheel helps getting to peak boost/torque range a lot with the previous mentioned modifications.
Good luck!

go to buschur, they know what they are talking about and can answer any ? you have. Tell them what your goals are and your budget and they will get you going. Changing the way you want your car to spool will drasticly change to outcome of your bottom and topend. The easiest way i can explain it is if you want a quick spooling car then your topend will suffer and vice versa!!! strokers have there limits on to how high they can rev. i guess it just boils down to what you want to set the car up for? As for my turbo, i start boost at about 2000rpm and full boost by 3800-4000rpm, i know thats a little laggy but believe me when the boost hits 32psi its just a matter of seconds before im trying to find gears at my 7900rpm rev limit.
Hope this helps
