You will get a million different answers because the question is totally subjective. There are a ton of posts on the mechanical differences. I recommend driving as many as possible and get a feel for the differences. I got a IX SE for the MIVEC, last version of the 4G63, and because I love the way it looks.. Oh, and the aluminum hood, roof, and front fenders...

Evo 8, 9 are the best for the street/track my 300whp evo VIII killed a evo x with 330whp easy. But you have to watch out a common problem for the 8,9, the transfer case is not built for high torque so staying at the high end could cost u some problem.
