Just picked up my Evo, need a little help!

So I just brought my Evo home to Iowa from Washington and I love it, but there is one issue Im having that I cant seem to put my finger on whats wrong. The car drives perfect when its just turned on, but after its been run for awhile, when I press in the clutch, the idle starts to get goofy and sometimes the car even dies, any ideas on whats wrong? Ive heard the Idle control valve could be the problem, but Ive also heard it might need tuned since it has a few mods. The mods it has are Injen cold air intake and intercooler pipes, HKS recirculated BOV and maybe an after market clutch, the dealer didnt know and Im not sure how to tell short of ripping the transmission and looking inside.

Please help!

I guess I should add that the car runs perfect sitting in neutral when warmed up without the clutch pressed in, but once I press the clutch in it starts to idle poorly. Being in gear or not doesnt seem to have an effect on it, just whether on not the clutch is pressed in. Any thoughts anyone?

I'm not sure but I know my sounds different idling if its super cold out as if its ready to stall out, and the one morning it was so cold out it did. I just got my evo as well so I just hope this is something normal? I'm assuming if ur in washington its cold there as well so maybe that's a factor

I know its a different car, but, I had the same issue with a 240SX that I bought. Problem was the PCV valve. Cheap fix if that is the problem

Positive crankcase ventilation valve but I doubt that is it. Change the plugs, check for leaks and check if it was tuned or not.

1.Get rid of that BOV recirc or not
2.Do a boost leak test
3.Get the car tuned by clicking here www.4wstuning.com

Get rid of the blow off valve. I would sell those aftermarket parts and trade them for stock with or without problems with the car. Once you are stock, get your ecu reflashed to stock and then start modding YOUR WAY. You just don't know how those parts were installed etc.

Your alternative is to get it tuned with your current mods (after you have determined your problem). Get rid of the blow off valve no matter what.

Sorry you are having that problem. That's gotta suck on a new purchase. Returning the car to stock and selling those aftermarket parts will at least rule out certain issues.

The HKS shouldnt be a problem because it is recirculated.

If i were you, i would return the car to stock since you said something is going on with the transmissions. The last thing you want to do is bring it to the dealer complaining about the tranny when they see you with your modded evo. That is a no-no. Just sound like something was installed improperly.

That BOV even in a recirc mode flat out causes drivability issues on EVO's

What alternative do I have for the current BOV? As far as the Injen pipes and intake go, I wouldve likely gone Injen either way as Ive always used their pipes (I had their intake on my GST and one currently on my GS). Im taking it to a mechanic tommorrow for a check of the idle control valve and leaks.

My evo runs poorly in the cold when it fist starts up. Once it warms up it is fine.
