I would recommend a 1g GSX or a 2g with a 1g 6 bolt engine. They can handle alot more power then the 2g 7 bolt.

I would strongly suggest a GSX before upping to an evo. I owned one and it was insane... the Evo is a great graduation from the gsx

how the hell would you know that considering you don't even have a license?

look, you can't get respect on the boards (or anywhere else in life) by displaying ignorance on a subject and advertising your spoiled existence. I grew up in a very well off family and had access to sports cars and luxury cars at 16. Guess what... I saved my money and bought a 96 5speed saturn coupe and learned the craft of driving. I then purchased a lancer in college. I'll buy an evo when i finish med school and can really do what I want with it. If you don't die, you'll never enjoy that evo as much because it will be a teenager's wet dream toy.

My advice is to slow down and listen. You are already speeding and you don't have a car yet.

Kid, I was your age not too long ago. I remember when all I could think about was the Evo. I'm not telling you to do anything, but my advice is to steer away from the evo. Like everyone said, you WILL hurt/kill youself with it. Cars I would start off at your age if you want performance are civic hatch, impreza 2.5 rs, 1g dsm, old 240sx, older wrx or anything else under 10k. Those cars are quick but not as dangerous as the evo and you dont want to start off with a 20k car. Another advice, try not to make mommy and daddy pay. Get a job, it'll teach you resonsibility. Save up for an evo in the long run.

Logan,

Apparently your pops has money to shell out right? Take advantage of an eclipse gsx, or something close and learn the awd world, start working on the engine with little mods here and there, do your own oil changes, take routes that are not occupied so much by civilians and take it easy.

When you think you are honestly ready and disciplined enough then take the next step... Dad will not go anywhere....

It's young kids that get behind the wheel of an Evo that make the rest of us look bad. It's a wonder the car hasn't been made illegal to drive. Thankfully most 'kids' can't afford them.

yall seem to forget when you were younger.....parents lend you the car to go to the shop and tell yo becarefull and what did you do??? DRIVE the **** out of IT!...

This boy needs a dead stock slow POS.......anything RWD is pushing it, FWD sounds more promising, and 4wd, com'on guys we all know that a 4wd sideways is work and if you dont know what your doing your GONE....

He hit the highway and all it is is FLAT out! You know he will have friends in the car and drive like an *** to show off, we all do it some of us just get away with it and dont crash.

Our age for lisencing is 18 here, it used to be younger but too many kids died, and they are thinking of pushing it to 21, and quite frankly i dont blame them young kids these days watching F@F and all that **** they just wanna be like VIN or PAUL Ommg lets go try that **** out son..1

But yeah all of this is just my opinion.

You could get one and get it tune so you cant rev it past 5k and speed limiter of 80mph. That would do.

Take other peoples advice on here man, go with a Honda or something like that. A Civic SI wouldn't be bad, and they are a hell of a lot more reliable than any Mitsu/DSM

You need to second thought that one also. Take it from someone who has had numerous DSM's (fwd, awd, and rwd IE:Conquest's/Starion's.) If you get a fwd turbo one you will more than likely kill it before long, and if you get an awd, the first thing you will break will be the tranny.

DSM's ARE NOT RELIABLE ENOUGH FOR A NEW DRIVER!

Like these two guys said a lot of us owned gsx's or gst's or talon fwds, and awd turbo cars.

They aren't a joke either when a little work is put into them.

My first car was a Honda and you could beat the ever living crap out of it and it would never die. Get in a DSM, do that every time, and see how much you will be spending to fix it when it breaks.

Not harshing on you for knowing what you want, but do like these guys said and start out small and work your way up when you're ready.

Here is a more informative answer from a young guy like you(op). When i was 16 i was bless with a 03 S2000, then within a couple of month later, i sold it and purchased an 03. Hate to say us young people have some hormones that triggers us to do some stupid **** even though you may think your responsible enough for it. I wouldnt even recommend it one bit. Three years later down the road i bought myself another evo. I am 19 now and i feel like a completely different person than when i was 16. I respect things more and so on. You probably wont even read this anyways.
